Department Overview
Motorola Solutions’ Command Center Software portfolio thrives within the overall Motorola Solutions product ecosystem, and is also enhanced by 3rd party systems our customers use on a daily basis. The Alliances and Ecosystem team is responsible for evaluation and establishment of 3rd party technology partner relationships, alignment of appropriate stakeholders, and establishment of appropriate governance based on established differentiation to ensure ongoing profitability for the Command Center Software business.
Job Description

The Product Management Intern is responsible for assisting with strategy, roadmap, and feature definition within the Public Safety Software Integrations and Command Center Developer Program team including interfacing with senior product managers, product owners, engineering staff, marketing managers and other teams to define and deliver compelling products to the market.

The Product Management Intern analyzes market and competitive conditions and participates as part of the team that lays out a product vision that is differentiated and delivers unique value based on addressing customer problems. This role spans many activities from strategic to tactical and provides cross-functional leadership—bridging gaps within the company between different functions, especially between development, sales and marketing, and support.

The Product Management Intern helps the team to define the ‘why’, ‘what,’ and ‘when’ of the product that the development team will build. 

Product Management Intern responsibilities include:

Product Vision and Strategy

The Product Management Intern is responsible for being a key contributing member of the team, by defining customer problems and contributing to a product vision and strategy. Their job is to collect input and articulate the business value to the product team so together they can develop the intent behind the new product or product release.

  • Identify customer needs and market requirements

  • Evaluate competitive products and solutions

  • Help the team to create business plans and proposals for new initiatives

Product Execution

Product management staff must plan for what their teams deliver and set expectations for when they need to deliver it. The Product Management Intern works with senior level product managers / product owners to define a vision and roadmap for their products, and the product team to define a release plan.

  • Helps the team to define market offer structure

  • Make products orderable and deliverable

  • Support implementation of training, support and deployment requirements

  • Identify risks and help to resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with business or business management

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are a necessity

  • Polished presentation skills for internal and external audiences

  • Proactive, enthusiastic attitude toward challenging problems 

  • Capable of quickly evaluating and prioritizing new projects alongside customer feedback

  • Strong ability to take complex user requirements and distill them into a format that can be understood by developers as well as non-technical staff 

  • Ability to research and analyze project requirements from various stakeholders

  • Ability to understand market trends, financial data, and customer needs and assess competitive intelligence data.

  • Build consensus among stakeholders

  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a diverse team spread across multiple continents in a fast-moving environment 

  • Ability to multi-task among various assignments

  • Understanding business management tools such Jira, Google Docs, MS Office

Basic Requirements
  • Must be pursuing a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with a graduation date of December 2026 or later

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or a Master's student with work authorization (F1 Visa on CPT accepted only for Masters-level students).
