Associate Product Manager
The Area: Morningstar Commodity Data, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc., is a leading provider of data, analytics and research. Morning Commodity Data uses patented technology and data management solutions to provide its customers with actionable information primarily in the energy, commodities, and financial sectors. The Role: We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, self-starter to help define, document, and manage the delivery and deployment of Morningstar’s cloud-based delivery tool, Marketplace. The ideal candidate will have a passion for software, improving the user experience, and investing. The successful candidate will be a key member of the product management group and interact with clients, developers, designers, and QA to implement systems for clients and drive products and new features to market.
Responsibilities
+ Manage projects through all phases of the software development life cycle
+ Execute business testing of new functionality
+ Convert business requirements into detailed, technical specifications to fulfill local product needs
+ Closely collaborate with developers and system administrators to schedule and plan deployments
+Work with marketing on the execution of product campaigns
+ Proactively assist the customer resolution process by investigating and following up on reported and outstanding issues
+ Prioritize product development and own capacity allocation
+Own product roadmap and develop short, medium and long term goals and client deliverables
+Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) and measurements of product success (usage, customer satisfaction, speed of delivery, etc)
+Demonstrates product capabilities to clients, including functionality and methodology.
+ Serve as an expert for Sales and Client Service and play an active role in product trial, conversion or sunsetting/migration processes.
+Articulates and evangelizes the strength, quality and value of product versus our competitor’s offerings.
Requirements
+ At least 2 years of product management and/or business analyst experience
+ Excellent organizational and planning skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in a related field
+ Strong understanding of financial concepts and investment terminology
+ The ability to visualize and improve user interface and product navigation
+ While this is not a technical role, experience of software product development and API’s is required
+ Strong analytical, trouble-shooting, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work within a rapidly evolving solutions-oriented development group
+ Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects
+ Ability to look at situations from several points of view: internally, externally, and cross-functionally
