The Product Strategy and Development (PSD) team oversees ESG product development and innovation; and manages Sustainalytics' product portfolio in alignment with corporate priorities. The team is seeking a seasoned ESG professional to support the development, commercialization, maintenance, and enhancement of our ESG Risk Products and related services. ESG Risk Products include our flagship ESG Risk Ratings, Sovereign and Sub-sovereign ESG Ratings and Ratings products supporting our Corporate and Sustainable Finance Clients.
The Director, ESG Research Risk Product Lead is responsible for supporting strategic product priorities for all products within the Risk Pillar. This person will lead a team Product Managers responsible for the products within the Risk pillar and provides strategic direction to the product line in alignment commercial goals and business priorities. This includes defining the product vision that considers the evolving topics in ESG Risk, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, and working closely with client relations, sales and marketing to deliver commercially successful ESG Risk Products. In addition, this person plays a crucial role in the integration of ESG research within Morningstar group of companies including PitchBook and DBRS. The role blends strategic product management functions, including a significant client/market facing role, with overseeing product features implementation. You will join a dynamic and strategically important team and contribute to the development of a vibrant community of product managers. The ideal candidate will have experience in both product development in a financial services industry and application of ESG in investment process.
Act as a leader to drive forward the expansion of the product agenda relating to all Rating Products within the portfolio. Lead and oversee the team of 8-10 Product Managers responsible for all Ratings Products including on our ESG Risk Rating product. Act as required to provide expertise when responding to inquiries and providing advice to clients and client teams on the value and utility of the product. Represent ESG Risk Products internally and externally. Support Product Managers who are responsible for Sustainalytics' flagship ESG Risk Ratings and related products and position the product for commercial success. Work closely with your team of Product Managers to ensure they translate the needs of our commercial team to understand client use cases and translate them into product features. Provide additional insights and market intelligence to identify related market trends and translate these into product improvements or new product propositions that provide competitive advantage. Identify new potential use cases or opportunities to expand product use or exposure in other platforms or products with Morningstar.
Qualifications • For this senior role, we are looking for a seasoned professional with the following:• Masters degree in related discipline (business, economics or finance) or Bachelors degree with relevant experience;• Product management experience preferably in the financial services industry or related services;• Experience working with senior persons in client firms in the financial services industry or in a strategic consulting role.• Experience related to application of ESG research in investment process;• Strong strategy development and execution skills;• Strong commercial and analytical skills;• Alignment with Sustainalytics' mission, vision and values;• Presentation skills (both in spoken and written formats), e.g. strategic plan development, ppt skills, client interaction skills;• A genuine team player who can achieve objectives through close collaboration and coordination with others (including technology, data & content operations, client services).• Strong leadership skills and the ability to identify opportunities for product expansion for new use cases is essential.
