Director of Product Management - Mobile Experience
REPORTS TO: VP, Product and Tech
The Director of Product Management (Mobile Experience) is a critical product leadership role in our Product and Tech organization. This unique and highly visible member of the Product and Technology Leadership Team has overall accountability for the business performance and definition of a strategic portfolio of all mobile experiences and applications, defining an integrated mobile platform strategy, end-to-end experience and long-term roadmap for all experiences delivered via the mobile channel.
This position requires a strategic leader committed to continuous discovery and delivery against our customers' unmet needs. Key priorities include, but not limited to, delivering modern mobile applications for Paylocity, driving fundamental innovation in the portfolio, identifying new market opportunities, and leveraging new business models, extracting increased value from the portfolio via synergies with other offerings and strategic partnerships.
Main responsibilities:

  • Define and align a compelling mobile strategy across a large portfolio of products to deliver a unified platform experience, aligning planning at the senior leadership level across product disciplines such as engineering, sales, marketing etc.
  • Engages directly with key stakeholders, customers, and customer proxies, combining their input with data and insights into markets to define and prioritize portfolio requirements.
  • Explores new market opportunities and business models, rapidly moving offerings from inception to launch, making a significant impact on business performance of the overall Paylocity portfolio
  • Analyzes mega trends impacting relevant markets, influencing corporate strategy to manage expected disruption
  • Develops deep understanding of Paylocity's business model and objectives, while aligning and prioritizing portfolio development investments accordingly and providing critical input in buy-build-partner decisions
  • Engages with engineering teams at a strategic level to ensure smooth, effective development of the portfolio in strategic timeframes
  • Makes strategic decisions regarding what offerings will be included in the portfolio, developing, and partnering for portfolio gaps

During the first six months, you will:

  • Identify, develop, and articulate the appropriate vision, mission and strategy that aligns with PCTY's broader business objectives and outcomes.
  • Develop the overall market offering strategy, user experience imperatives and roadmap for your portfolio.
  • Partner with key vertical category leads to ensure strategic alignment and prioritization.
  • Perform competitive analysis and build a competitive packaging, pricing and GTM plan
  • Understand and continuously monitor product metrics, orchestrate actions based on insights and drive desired outcomes
  • Partner on GTM activities with Sales, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and other teams
  • Effectively build, maintain, and foster relationships with key partners and stakeholders
  • Be a sounding board for ideas and a center of excellence for all matters relating to current and future technologies
  • Create a culture of accountability, quality, agility, operational excellence, and high performance that will foster the attraction, development and retention of excellent product and engineering talent

Required Experience:

  • 15+ years of relevant professional experience with 7/10+ years in senior product management roles
  • Outside-in Thinker - Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful portfolio of mobile products throughout its life cycle, focused on continuous discovery and motivated by voice of users
  • Outcome Oriented - Ability to collect relevant data and analyze it to produce recommendations and perform root-cause analysis at the portfolio level
  • Data driven - Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and/or team level hypothesis
  • Passionate and Inspiring - Proven leadership skills with a mobile-first technology company, an inspiring enthusiasm for Product Management and demonstrable experience as a people manager
  • Team Player - Ability to effectively influence and collaborate on executive level with customers and other stakeholders
  • Executive presence - Excellent at presentation and story-telling skills incl. the ability to simplify complex thoughts/ideas
  • Diverse experience - Preferably a blend of B2B, B2C, B2B2C markets and products
  • Curious and Continuous Learner - Experience with Payroll, HR, Time & Attendance, Talent, Benefits, Workforce Management and Integrations, a plus (interest in developing and maintaining this expertise, an absolute must)

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position in Colorado is $152,295 - $223,233 /yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here.
