About the Role

We are looking to add a Head of Digital/Technology to our growing team! This person will be responsible for owning the performance of the Local Eclectic website and app, which includes creating and refining the software development roadmap, troubleshooting issues and collaborating with other teams to improve the customer shopping experience. This person will design and drive the vision for Local Eclectic’s sustainable digital future. We are looking for a scrappy, detail-oriented person who is passionate about Ecommerce and our mission of inspiring creativity and empowering women

Ideally, we would like for our new Head of Digital/Technology to work out of our Chicago office. There is potential for the right candidate for temporary remote work with the intent of relocation. 

 

What You'll Do

Optimize our customer experience and conversion rates and manage tech roadmap

  • Work with development, marketing, operations and executive teams to define and own  the digital roadmap and utilize agile development processes 
  • Evaluate the technical requirements for strategies that are intended to increase revenue, such as subscription, loyalty programs, etc.
  • Own A/B testing and UI/UX improvements in collaboration with Art Director and developer
  • Measure and track project performance and provide the insights, analysis, and actionable recommendations
  • Own the conversion rate KPI and consistently identify new ways to improve CVR
  • Monitor the competitive landscape, examine strategies of best-in-class retailers and keep up to date with industry research to identify emerging trends and make recommendations

Maintain site functionality and minimize downtime

  • Develop/execute QA processes and ensure that site updates are executed without issues
  • Identify, manage and maintain necessary integrations to Shopify and understand dependencies
  • Own the site speed KPI, ensuring excellent performance on all major devices/browsers, including fast load times & bug-free core functionality
  • Ensure that the customer experience is seamless throughout desktop, mobile and app
  • Proactively audit digital properties to identify any bugs and work with the team to resolve based on priority
  • Oversee and maintain the Local Eclectic app
  • Be able to jump in if necessary and code with HTML, CSS, & JavaScript to develop new features and implement UI designs within the Shopify frontend, backend and app
  • Manage internal developers and any outside agency relationships that are related to site and app performance

 

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • 5+ years of experience in ecommerce required
  • 3+ years of working experience with Shopify Plus / Liquid using Theme Kit and managing integrations (such as WMS) is required
  • 3+ years professional experience building and refining highly visual, responsive, professionally designed UIs for consumer brands using semantic and accessible HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
  • Up-to-date knowledge and adherence to best practices across all development spectrums (optimizing for SEO, accessibility, site speed performance, conversion optimization)
  • Solid experience with cross-device responsive web development techniques
  • Experience hiring and managing developers and engineers, as well as finding, evaluating and scoping projects with development agencies
  • Must be proactive, action-oriented, data-driven, solutions-first, and a team player who thrives on having a direct impact on our customer experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in computer science or related field

Please Note

Covid-19/Mask policy: Employees can choose to disclose their vaccination status.
