Company Overview

Launched in 2014, ShipBob is a tech-enabled fulfillment and logistics solution for growing e-commerce companies. Our goal is to alleviate the daily stress associated with picking, packaging and shipping so business owners can focus on more important aspects of their brand.

Through our software and operations arm, we are on a mission to help businesses be successful online.

We pride ourselves on our inclusive and richly diverse company culture. All voices are heard regardless of tenure or job title. We are looking for creative problem solvers with a strong work ethic and ability to persevere.

Position Summary:

ShipBob is seeking a Product Designer to lead UX and UI for our core product: our fulfillment software for ecommerce merchants.

As a Product Design Lead at ShipBob, you will work alongside a team of world-class developers and product managers to lead the future of our ecommerce software solution. Our product vision is to become the single source of truth for ecommerce sellers to manage their logistics, and you will help us get there.

Our ideal candidate is a creative problem solver who can work autonomously to build the foundation of design at ShipBob, with high attention to detail, and can do great work in an ever-changing, agile development environment. At ShipBob, we are looking for mission-driven team members who value creativity, innovation, and hard work - not pixel pushers. We are looking for a Product Designer who can build upon what we’ve already built for merchants in the last 4 years as we continue our explosive growth.

Need-to-haves:

  • Written communication & basic copywriting
  • Ability to work under deadlines in an ambiguous environment - be a self starter
  • Sense of strategy & setting a vision of what it should “feel like” to use ShipBob
  • Attention to detail w/ designs - multiple user segments, multiple use cases etc.
  • Experience designing complicated software - ideally B2B serving SMB customers
  • User advocacy
  • Should submit a portfolio with their application

Nice-to-haves:

  • Industry experience in ecommerce or logistics
  • Experience working in agile/scrum environment, side by side with developers

Technical nice to haves

  • HTML/CSS - you won’t be writing code all day because every developer at ShipBob is full-stack, but you should be comfortable getting in and helping solve problems if necessary
  • Proficiency with prototyping/wireframing software stacks - Balsamiq, Sketch, InVision etc.
  • Familiarity with user-centered design principles
  • Experience with effectively soliciting user feedback through focus groups or other means
