Title: Product Designer

Location: Chicago, Illinois

About Us:

ShipBob’s mission is simple: provide world-class fulfillment to ecommerce sellers big and small.

With $60M+ raised from blue-chip investors like Menlo Ventures, Bain Capital Ventures, and Hyde Park Venture Partners, we are ready for you to help us reach the next level.

As a Product Designer at ShipBob, you will lead UX and UI design for our core product: fulfillment software for ecommerce merchants. You will work alongside a team of world-class developers and product managers to lead the future of our ecommerce software solution. Our product vision is to build a platform for ecommerce sellers of all sizes - from side hustlers to entrepreneurs to large online retailers - to manage their logistics.

About You:

Our ideal candidate is a creative problem solver who can work autonomously to build the foundation of design principles at ShipBob, with high attention to detail, and can-do great work in an ever-changing, agile development environment. At ShipBob, we are looking for mission-driven team members who value creativity, innovation, and hard work - not pixel pushers. We are looking for a full-stack Product Designer who can build upon what we’ve already built for merchants in the last 4 years as we continue our explosive growth.

We’re looking for individuals who embody our core values:

  • Be Mission-Driven. We want team members that are passionate about helping entrepreneurs improve their business and bring that passion every day.
  • Be Humble. We have ambitious goals, and our team members understand that success or failure depends on us working together and leaving egos at the door.
  • Be Resilient. Logistics is a complicated business. So is software. We value team members that never give up and keep iterating until a problem is solved.
  • Be a Creative Problem Solver. As a startup, we value smart, innovative solutions to complex problems. We fall in love with the problem, not our “favorite” solution.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive user research using qualitative (interviews, focus groups) and quantitative (surveys, web analytics) methods.
  • Conduct whiteboarding/brainstorming sessions with the product team to align on problems to solve.
  • Be an advocate for the user experience to influence the backlog and feature scoping.
  • Build elegant UI design based on user, business, and engineering requirements.
  • Participate in the day-to-day scrum process of a high-powered engineering team – daily standups, story building, grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Have fun building the best end-to-end fulfillment technology on the market!

Responsibilities:

  • Experience with effectively soliciting user feedback through focus groups or other means.
  • Written communication & basic copywriting.
  • Ability to work under deadlines in an ambiguous environment – be a self-starter.
  • Sense of strategy & setting ability to set a vision for the user experience of a product
  • Attention to detail w/designs – multiple user segments, multiple use cases, etc.
  • Mastery of UI design software stack – Balsamiq, Sketch, InVision, Zeplin, etc.

Preferred Additional Requirements:

  • Industry experience in eCommerce or logistics.
  • Experience working in agile/scrum environment, side by side with developers.

Benefits:

  • Medical, Dental & Vision
  • 401k Plan
  • Competitive Salary & Discretionary Bonus
  • Stock Options
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Paid Maternity/Parental Leave Program
  • Flexible Time Off Program
  • Referral Bonus Program
