Product Manager, Quantitative Research
The Group: Morningstar's Quantitative Research and Manager Research groups create independent investment research and data-driven analytics designed to help investors and Morningstar achieve better outcomes by making better decisions. Our research encompasses hundreds of thousands of securities within a large breadth of asset classes including equities, fixed income, structured credit, and managed investments. Morningstar is one of the largest independent sources of fund, equity, and credit data and research in the world, and our advocacy for investors' interests is the foundation of our company.
The Role: This role, housed in Quantitative Research, oversees the productization (or replatform) of Manager Research and Quant Research datasets by working with the analyst teams to coordinate their research, modeling the data, and working with our data services and product teams to deliver (and creatively display) the data sets. The Product Manager will write user stories and provide detailed acceptance criteria, lead backlog grooming, estimations, retrospectives, and sprint plannings. This role will also include a broad set of responsibilities to support the Quant and Manager Research Analyst Teams including support for surveyed data, fund client coverage reporting, troubleshooting ratings operations issues, contributing updates through our global communication channels, and more. The Product Manager reports to the Director of Product Management, Quantitative Research.
Job Responsibilities
- Create and maintain the roadmap for new research projects, landscape papers, and productionization of datasets across the entire Morningstar product portfolio.
- • acilitate Scrum/ Agile ceremonies and practices to build teams that consistently deliver on their goals.
- Overhaul existing processes and workflows, with an eye towards automation and technical solutions, to achieve greater scale as our group continues to grow.
- Coordinate globally with other teams like design, front-end development, data services, marketing, and customer support, to deliver new datasets or insights to the market.
- Provide support to the Quant and Manager Research Analyst teams such as hosting research showcases to highlight the great work our teams do.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience of work experience in financial services or tech.
- Strong and sincere interest in learning technical program and product management, and operations.
- Interest in finance, managed investments, and/or quantitative research.
- Excellent problem-solving, organization and analytical skills.
- Ability to achieve strategic goals and evolve strategy based on data and user feedback.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Growth mindset.
Nice to have
- An eye for process improvement and organization.
- Familiarity with agile/ scrum.
- Experience coordinating work with distributed teams in remote regions.
- Understanding of AWS technologies.
- Familiarity with Morningstar's Managed Investment Research and data.
