Forager is growing and building something incredibly complex. Due to this growth, we are looking for a Product Manager, to translate the complexities of cross-border freight to engineers. The impact you make in the role will be felt throughout Forager.

What you will do:

  • Bring focus and clarity to features within the overall product roadmap and be able to justify the link between product decisions and business outcomes
  • Own and maintain the quality of product execution cycles working with a cross-functional team of designers, engineers, and QA
  • Seek to understand problems through regular interaction with our employees and customers, and translate that understanding into product insights
  • Justify decisions to management and the broader company, and be able to communicate clearly and articulately for a wide range of audiences
  • Work with other product team members to regularly re-visit and improve the company-wide product process

Who You Are

  • You have significant experience in the truckload and logistics industry and understand the ins and outs of how freight moves throughout North America and can explain that process to a five-year old
  • You are an experienced product manager from an early-stage marketplace (ideally B2B) and potentially enterprise SaaS as well
  • You are obsessed with product management and enthralled with the idea of building a ridiculously complex platform and a marketplace
  • You understand technical and engineering concepts
  • You can easily translate problems in the freight process to actionable features
  • You adapt and thrive in a demanding, ever-changing, fast-paced environment
  • You are organized and have a high attention to detail
  • Experience in wire-framing a plus

What We Believe In (for real, not just in our job posting):

  1. Transparency and Fairness
  2. Support and Trust in our Team and Management
  3. Anti-Micromanagement
  4. Healthy Work/Life Balance
  5. Titles aren’t important, and the ideas of an Intern are as valid (and wanted) as the CEO’s
  6. Investing in our Team’s Growth and Advancement
  7. Getting Stuff Done - without Compromising on any of the above

Who we are?

Forager is a logistics tech startup with one goal: simplify cross-border freight with a combination of purpose-built technology and decades of industry experience. We're building an automated and collaborative marketplace that connects cross-border shippers (customers) with their optimal carrier (trucking companies) based on region, price, and service rating.

An Insider's view of Forager

What’s the vibe like in the office?

It's definitely lively! We have a great sense of camaraderie, so we're pretty casual overall. Whether we’re cracking jokes or putting our heads down and getting to work, we all share the collective goal of building something great.

Bobby

UX/UI Designer

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

SaaS tools help a lot, but if I'm working with someone outside of Product, I always invite them out to lunch. Knowing someone on a more personal level helps you understand the context behind their ideas. You get more insight into their problems and that informs your solutions. I collaborate best over burgers!

Claude

Product Manager

What makes someone successful on your team?

Empathy for sure. To be a successful software engineer, especially at a collaborative company like Forager, you have to view the world through a distinctly human lens. At the end of the day, we're not just writing code in a vacuum. We're writing code for other people.

Chris

Senior Software Engineer

How do your team's ideas influence the company's direction?

Forager's tech is built by and for logistics professionals, so obviously the team's ideas and experiences are key to its development. Their feedback actively shapes our platform. Once you know our team you can see their fingerprints on everything we do, because everything we do is a team effort.

Jessie

Chief Operations Officer

How does the company support your career growth?

As someone who has been deeply interested in entrepreneurship my entire life, the crash course I've gotten in starting, scaling, and innovating a new business has been invaluable! The opportunity to learn and expand my skill set is my favorite part of being a Forager.
