About the role

We empower our product teams to solve hard problems – customer problems and business problems – in ways that our customers love, yet work for our business. Our product teams are cross-functional and durable, generally composed of a product manager, a product designer, and several engineers. In this role you will be joining one of Screencastify’s three product teams and will be working closely with folks across the company to discover, deliver, and bring to market a set of features designed to meet the needs of teachers and students around the world.

Why is this role special?

  1. Build products that will advance education. Schools and districts around the world depend on Screencastify to digitize their curriculum and communication. The need for and benefit of video-based learning has never been more clear than it is now.
  2. Have a massive impact. As part of a small product team you will be instrumental in the design of features and products that will be seen and used by millions of people.
  3. Work with an extremely talented team. In 2020, our team grew from less than 10 to over 50 employees and we still achieve results similar to companies 5x our headcount.
  4. Work for our users. Above all else, you will be an advocate for our users and will get to know their voices and stories better than most people in the company.
  5. Join us at a magical time. We're bootstrapped, profitable, and support tens of millions of users, which gives us a huge green field to work with. You'll join at the perfect time to shape how we grow from here.

What you'll do

  • Gather insights about the needs of customers from a combination of qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Collaborate with your team’s Product Designer and Tech Lead to turn customer insights into feature ideas that are technically feasible, aligned with business goals, and will be usable by customers.
  • Frequently test prototypes and feature ideas to eliminate as many risks as possible before committing to production quality versions.
  • Lead cross-departmental feature release teams to successfully bring your team’s work to market.
  • Work with the Director of Product to set annual and quarterly OKRs for your team and monitor the progress of your team in achieving those goals.
  • Stay up-to-date on the trends and forces shaping the k-12 market.

You're perfect for this role if you:

  • 4+ years working on technology-powered products as either a product manager, product designer, engineer, or user researcher.
  • Have a demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of product discovery and product delivery.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to learn multiple functional areas of business – engineering, design, finance, sales, or marketing.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to figure out solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgement to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, narrative.
  • Have a proven ability to engage with engineers, designers, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative relationship.
  • Love the challenges, hours, and ups-and-downs of startup life.
  • Are flexible, dedicated, and curious.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation. We take a data-driven approach to our compensation strategy so all employees are paid competitively and equitably.
  • 401k plan. We want to invest in present you and future you, which is why we offer a generous 401k match with our 401k plan.
  • Minimum vacation policy. We recognize the importance of taking personal time off, and require our employees to take at least 15 vacation days per year. You’re also encouraged to take additional paid time off, as needed.
  • Flexible work policy. Gone are the days of being in an office from 9-5, Monday through Friday. We recognize there are better ways to measure productivity than counting the number of hours you’re in the office and that sometimes the office isn’t the best place to be productive.
  • Parental leave. Generous paid time off for parents to bond with the newest addition to their family!
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance. We cover 100% of employee medical premiums and 50% of employee dental & vision premiums. Plus, all employees receive a free One Medical membership.
  • Professional development. Each department has a professional development budget and employees are encouraged to take workshops, attend webinars, join associations, and anything else that could help grow their careers. Did we also mention employees get free access to Udemy for Business?
  • Divvy bike membership. If you’re in Chicago, take advantage of an annual Divvy membership -- on us.
