Product Owner

This is a once-in-lifetime opportunity to put your own stamp on a fast-growing Chicago startup in a key role. This is a formative position at a startup that, while still in stealth mode, is well-funded, has a unicorn-experienced leadership team, is growing like gangbusters, and is still young enough for you to have an outsized impact. DAIS is ready to start growing its team, and that’s where you come in.

To clarify, this opportunity is about identifying high impact problems and empowering DAIS team to build exciting and innovative software solutions for use by insurance agencies and carriers, and is not about managing “insurance products” such as auto liability coverage.

Rather than confine you to only managing products, we will equip you to drive success using our network/ecosystem to create unique and highly valuable experiences for insurance carriers, agencies, and policy holders. By working with senior leadership this is an exciting opportunity to put your fingerprint on the operations, technical, and product organizations at an extraordinary startup that is making big waves.

Responsibilities:

• Own the tactical and strategic roadmap from creation to delivery

• Communicate the problem from the users persona point of view

• Communicate problems and solutions at every level of the business, from executive leadership to users

• Own the delivery of our products

• Carefully, vigorously and strategically prioritize customers high-impact problems via structured and standardized valuation methodology. You will always understand which problems are bringing the greatest value and ROI to the customers and DAIS

• Empower designers and developers to generate ideas and find efficient solutions  

• Participate as a stakeholder to drive the vision of DAIS through product delivery

• Provide input on user stories and acceptance criteria as needed. Assist with continuous improvement of internal processes, including documenting improvements

• Act as a connector between Agile teams.  Will own 1-2 teams

• Understand end user but also the company’s direction

• Balance the needs of end users against the overall direction of DAIS

Requirements:

• 4+ years of relevant experience

• Experience in an agile product development practices and agile development environment

• Customer driven. Data driven.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, soft skills, and collaboration. Patience, flexibility and willingness to dive in and help where and when needed

• Attention to detail and the ability to understand how those details come together to formulate the bigger picture

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Includes the ability to customize communication of findings from executive-level presentations to detailed presentations depending on the audience

• Experience producing software for carriers, agencies, or commercial insurance industry software companies is a plus

• Expert level knowledge of the insurance industry is a plus

• Be able to travel up to 10%
