PRODUCT OWNER – DATA and BI
As a Product Owner on the Echo Global Logistics Data team, you will be responsible for eliciting requirements and assist with designing technology solutions on Echo’s Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Quality (DQ) and Governance technology platforms. Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively in an Agile fast-paced environment within a cross functional team consisting of: Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Analysts, Product Owners, Data Stewards, UX Architects, DevOps Engineers, and Business Owners
  • Develop deep expertise of Echo’s internal and client-facing technology product lines; leads the designing and documenting efforts for complex business intelligence, data solutions and software functionality
  • Fully understand Echo’s business processes and goals across different domains and transportation modes
  • Partner with other Product Owners to understand domain roadmaps and define scope on prioritized projects
  • Facilitate sessions with other Product Owners, IT and Business stakeholders, subject matter experts and end users to understand business problems and requirements
  • Document in form of “User Stories” business problem statement, current and desired states, business and technical gaps, proposed solution, acceptance criteria and business value statement
  • Organize and prioritize user stories in to epics and features to ensure focus on those with maximum value and in alignment with the overall product roadmap
  • Guide the Agile development teams to deliver the desired solution in scope, on time and keep informed key stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
  • Seek, collect and manage user story backlog, facilitate Sprint grooming and planning, and daily stand ups.
  • Work closely with other Product Owners and Managers to collect and maintain a data focused backlog
  • Support product features release management and communicate project/sprint/release progress status to management
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Sprint Scope
  • Research and analyze market trends in BI, DQ and Data Governance, and stay aware of our competitors and the industry best practices
  • Keep abreast with Agile best practices and new trends
  • Strive to learn new technologies and look for ways to stay up to date in this rapidly changing industry
  • Aim to maximize the value of the products created by the collaborative teams
  • Participate in product release cycles as the product expert, including testing planning and execution sessions, to help surface any issues prior to a release
  • Help Echo’s application support teams in troubleshoot production issues and escalate issues to the appropriate Agile delivery team as needed; manages end-user expectations appropriately
  • Perform and lead analytical studies, research and side projects, as required.

Position Requirements

  • 3-5 years as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or equivalent work experience
  • 2-3 years as a Product Manager, Sr. Business Analyst or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in transportation logistics, or supply chain transportation management system (TMS) is a plus
  • Analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate business and market problems and apply technology and domain knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • TSQL, software integrations, data analytics experience is a plus
  • Tableau, Power BI, Informatica Data Quality (IDQ) experience is an advantage
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, fluid work environment
  • Self-managed and motivated; organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to follow through with tasks to their completion
  • Readiness to learn new technologies and analytical tools
  • Exposure to the full software development lifecycle experience in an Agile-SCRUM environment
  • Strong and proven skills in creating quality documents such as user stories/acceptance criteria, business requirements/use cases, process flows, product backlogs
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Marketing, Business or equivalent experience
