Hireology’s technology empowers businesses to build great teams. Over the last nine years, we’ve grown from a startup to a market-leading organization with over 160 team members, and we’ve created an award-winning culture that makes this company an amazing place to work.
It’s with that in mind that Hireology is looking for a Product Owner to join our Product team. This individual will be responsible for maximizing the value produced by the engineering team through effective definition, prioritization, and management of features for development. This position will have a direct impact on our success by helping to ensure predictable delivery of our products.
As our Product Owner you’ll be responsible for:
- Working in an Agile environment and continually refining priorities and outlining milestones and deliverables
- Partnering with product managers, engineering, business owners, and other stakeholders to ensure that the products delivered align with the feature requirements, product and technical strategy, and stakeholder prioritization
- Enabling the engineering team through proactive definition and management of work
- Maintaining the integrity of product requirements as they are broken into agile user stories, keeping the needs of the customer at the forefront.
- Proactive planning to identify and mitigate risks
- Communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders to achieve project goals
So what kind of person are we looking for in this role? We have a pretty unique culture here at Hireology, and the person who will be successful in this role will be:
- Effective Communicator: You need to be able to speak to various audiences via diverse channels, and be able to represent technical concepts and requirements both to Engineers and Stakeholders.
- Problem Solver: Product development can be challenging, with new developments everyday. You’ll manage and provide guidance on problems or issues as they arise, and proactively look for solutions that offer wider benefits.
- Work Independently and with a Team: Some people work best individually and some as part of a team. The ideal candidate is a chameleon who can succeed both on their own and work within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Goal Driven: Not only will you have your own goals, but you will be collaboratively working to drive overall goals for the next two weeks to the next quarter.
Okay, we’ve laid out what the job is - now are you qualified? Below are the minimum qualifications we’re looking for in a Product Owner candidate. Also, we want a chance to get to know who you are and why you applied, so please include a cover letter.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle from research, design, and requirements to development, testing, and delivery.
- Highly analytical mindset and obsessive about driving iterative improvement
- Demonstrated ability to learn new processes, vocabulary, and workflows in a highly dynamic environment
- Strong ability to translate product concepts and requirements into user stories that can be refined by the development team
So what can you expect after you apply? You will:
- Take a brief true/false survey. Be sure to check your email after you apply.
- Have a phone conversation with someone on our Recruiting team. This is a high-level conversation about you, but also a good opportunity for you to learn more about us.
- Meet with our Product team to discuss how you would make an impact in this role.
- Provide us with some references. We use our automated reference check system for this, so you just give us some names, they fill out a survey, and we are all set.
- Speak with our Vice President of Product. This will be an opportunity for us to get an idea of how you got to where you are, and if where you want to go lines up with where we are going.
