Senior Director of Product

Corporate Headquarters: River North, Chicago; Bioscience + Farm Operations: Longmont, CO. Chicago-based candidates preferred, but NOT required. Post-pandemic, occasional travel will be required for remote employees.

Summary
As a rapid-growth startup with an ambitious digital roadmap, Equilibria’s Product team is responsible for delivering on Equilibria’s mission + vision of bringing balance to the lives of as many women as possible through premium CBD and personalized dosage support/education. Our scope of work digs deep into the digital experience of ecommerce, a member’s personal health journey, and internal business needs.
The Senior Director of Product position reports directly to the co-founder/CPO — collaborating heavily on digital product vision and owning scope delivery by overseeing ideation, development, and post-release analysis of the roadmap for digital features and enhancements related to:
- Consumer/Ecommerce:
- - Equilibria’s D2C ecommerce shop, optimizing subscription for high LTV and overall for MRR, and one-time purchases for frequency
- - Internal tools to support marketing and promotions
- - Other ecommerce initiatives around further improving conversion, increasing AOV/UPT/LTV, and acquiring new customers
- Internal and external experience needs including (but not limited to): women’s healthcare-oriented data, our Member Education/Dosage Support service and its team, asynchronous + elegant + interactive education, and the general, existential experience of supporting medical hemp/cannabis as a lifestyle choice.

Responsibilities
A successful Senior Director of Product will build the right thing and build the thing right.
Build the Right Thing
- Become an expert in our users, our industry, and our site, including the software systems we use to support achieving Equilibria’s vision
- Coordinate research efforts oriented around value-creation:
- - Quantitative and generative research to identify new or expanded areas of opportunity
- - Evaluative research like prototype testing and A/B testing to ensure proposed solutions are viable and have a high likelihood of success
- Keep team on their toes around competitors and ecommerce and software best practices, to bolster solution planning efforts
- Partner with stakeholders in other departments to ensure cross-functional concerns are taken into account in planning and prioritization
- Work with CPO, engineering lead, and team to ruthlessly prioritize and plan the roadmap, backlog, and icebox
- Identify and continuously track the success metrics of a feature to confirm delivered solutions continue to effectively address user needs and business goals
- Push the limits on solutioning: we want to move beyond the status quo to do better for both our members and the business.
Build the Thing Right
- Participate in design reviews to ensure UX/UI meet product goals
- Maintain best practices within the team for user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria
- Work with engineering to scope implementation of features and enhancements
- Keep stakeholders informed during the development and release process
- Coordinate critical UAT to accept releases, and keep roadmap moving
Qualifications
- Significant prior experience:
- - in an eCommerce or B2C software environment (bonus points for both! And for D2C!)
- - Building and leading a product team that values outcome measurement
- - Working directly with design and engineering teams
- - Coordinating meaningful user research
- - Optimizing conversion funnels
- - SDLC agile practices
- Demonstrable portfolio of product vision work and feature releases
- Detail-oriented, with excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively and manage expectations across all organizational roles
- Experience “managing up,” with strongly held opinions and recommendations
- Entrepreneurial mindset is a huge plus.
- A high tolerance for the uncertainty and nimble pivoting of a startup environment; seeing opportunity in change.
