The role of the Senior Manager Growth - Network Operations is a critical part of making Flexport’s mission a reality. Your work will play a pivotal role in building the next operational model at Flexport: allowing us to effectively scale to achieve our mission of making global trade easier for everyone. Specifically this role will focus on setting up operations and launching teams in new geographies or verticals (specifically Air and LCL exports within the US and import operations Canada in the beginning; potential to expand to other North American / South American countries).
What you’ll do:
- You will work with global operations leaders and provide expertise to develop strategies and tactical plans for expansion of Air and LCL operations in targeted countries. Driving successful execution through program & project management.
- You will hire, coach and develop an organization of 4-5 managers and 20-40 individual contributors responsible for the end-to-end movement of consolidated freight shipments
- You will design strategic operational processes and infrastructure to ensure Flexport executes quality service delivery on-time, efficiently, cost-effectively and most importantly creates a world-class customer experience, iterating where necessary.
- You will be responsible for monitoring and improving overall cost-to-serve while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.
- You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the right processes, partnerships and teams are established to successfully drive day-to-day operations, with a focus on scalability.
- You will support the development of and implementation of Flexport technology to create a seamless user experience across our global Air and LCL Network.
- You will act has the key escalation point for all escalations relevant to your scope of operations
- You will personally represent Flexport’s value proposition by recommending supply chain solutions for new clients and opportunities to the account management team.
- You will guard the “front line” in ensuring the high levels of ‘on-time performance’. You will be responsible for meeting internal KPIs and SLAs that demonstrate quality delivery.
- You will assist in the development of and manage business plans and budgets for gateway teams.
- Monitor gateway vendor (e.g. carrier, trucker) performance and partner with Procurement on performance management initiatives.
- You will serve as the primary relationship manager for internal and external partners in your region such as terminals, carriers, and warehouses, the Customs team and the Ocean Operations team. You will be the primary point of contact for third-level internal and external escalations.
What you’ll need
- Bachelor degree and 8-10 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, freight forwarding (air freight and exports experience is a plus).
- Strong project management and data analytics skills are a plus
- Managerial experience of more than 5+ years (managing direct reports)
- A strong belief in Flexport’s mission and values, desire to change the world of freight.
- Track record of building and managing logistics operations in the US is a plus
- Extensive personal network of local service providers in targeted countries.
- Solid project management experience backed by a portfolio of successfully executed projects.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- MA/MS degree in a business or logistics oriented field is a plus
