This role can be based out of our Riverwoods, IL or downtown Chicago office.

As a Network Security Product Owner responsible for refining the product vision and the maturation of idea to initiative ensuring teams build the right products across multiple product teams. Responsible for framing, prioritizing, and evaluating the work generated by multiple product teams in order to ensure features and functionality of the products meet consumer needs and generate expected value/return on investment. Ensures pipelines (backlog) are full and prioritized. The Senior Product Owner plays a significant role in quality and is the only team member empowered to accept user stories as done. This role has significant relationships outside the local team, including working with the Product Manager and Product Architects to prepare features and user stories for continuous planning cycles. Mentors other Product Owners and provide direction on more complex features.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that multiple teams are building the right products by developing features and user stories based on consumer needs, market research and enterprise direction. Ensures a well-stocked, groomed and prioritized product backlog to ensure that work focuses on those features and stories with maximum value and aligned to product strategy.
  • Ensures a high quality product by establishing acceptance criteria, definition of done and other quality controls as a part of the product development process. Works with the team to clarify features and user stories and is the only member of the team empowered to accept a feature as complete.
  • Partners with Product Leadership to provide input to Product vision/roadmap and initiative prioritization/delivery. Plans product releases and upgrades and negotiation of scheduling to meet consumer needs and Enterprise priorities.
  • Provides product team leadership on Agile & Delivery practices and provides feedback to Chapter leads on individual team member performance.
  • Responsible for defining and achieving team Objectives & Key Results (OKR) as well as management of product Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in Product Owner, Product Manager, Technology Product or Team Leadership or related field

 

Preferred Qualifications

If we had our say, we'd also look for:

  • In lieu of degree, 8 years of expereience in Product Owner, Product Manager, Technology Product, or Team Leadership or related field.
  • Network Technology domain expertise which includes:
  • Networking concepts, protocols, firewalls, IPS/IDS, Proxies, Cloud security
  • Security aligned experience associated with network access controls and lateral movement detection and protection capabilities
  • Experience in continuous delivery using Agile delivery concepts and toolkits
  • Strong influence and negotiating skills, and the ability to overcome barriers and resistance to execute against strategic plan
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies in a rapidly changing environment
  • Experience with compliance standards/programs (PCI, NIST)
  • SNMP, IBM IWS, IBM Netcool, CA-Workload AE, AppDynamics, ServiceNow, Moogsoft
