Senior Product Manager, Morningstar Direct Analytics Lab
The Group: The Products group is the home of manufacturing and innovation at Morningstar. The individuals in this group transform our high-quality data, independent research, and technological expertise into well-designed products that delight our clients. The group's product management, product development, and service teams collaborate with our Client Solutions group to help provide clients with relevant products and bundled solutions.
The Role: Morningstar is looking for a Senior Product Manager to define and lead the delivery of Morningstar Direct's Analytics Lab platform roadmap. The Senior Product Manager will set the vision for and guide the development of capabilities to enable code savvy investment analysts, quantitative analysts, and data scientists to build automated, scalable, and customized analytics in Morningstar Direct.
The Senior Product Manager will act as both product expert and strategist to translate industry trends, customer needs, competitive intelligence, and Morningstar intellectual property into innovative capabilities that solve customer problems and evangelize those innovations both internally and externally. The Senior Product Manager will partner with our clients & prospects to incorporate the voice of the user and will work closely with development, design, marketing, sales and support to decide and deliver on a product roadmap creating a world-class experience for our users.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing technical products, and with quantitative analysis tools and techniques in the asset and wealth management industry. Familiarity with python, Jupyter Notebooks, or similar analytics development tools is preferred.
This position is located Chicago, New York or Toronto.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive key product capabilities while aligning with development, design and client-facing teams to tackle new opportunities.
- Lead the commercial activities including sales-enablement, go-to-market planning, and product prioritization for Direct's Analytics Lab platform
- Work directly with product marketing, sales and service to define and communicate our value proposition.
- Through close coordination with technology, design, product, client service and operations teams, help ensure product, operational and customer service excellence.
- Demonstrate product capabilities to prospective clients, including functionality and methodology - serving as an expert for our internal stakeholders.
- Track and deliver against key performance indicators (KPIs) and measurements of product success (product revenue, product profitability, customer satisfaction, quality, cost implications, forecasts, etc.).
- Drive adoption of our newest analytics capabilities within Morningstar Direct.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, computer science or related field is required.
- 5+ years of relevant and progressive experience in software product management, portfolio management and financial technology.
- Subject matter expertise in quantitative analysis tools and techniques is preferred.
- Knowledge of Morningstar products and the markets they serve is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in an ambitious team with tight deadlines across multiple teams and locations.
- Ability to structure, manage, and coordinate complex cross-functional tasks and processes with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels.
