Senior Product Manager, Research Distribution
About the Role
The Research Distribution team is looking for a senior product manager to own Morningstar’s very visible research licensing business with wealth management and online brokerage clients in North America. You will work closely with Morningstar’s research analysts, sales teams, and senior management to define, market, and grow Morningstar’s differentiated research offerings. You will provide a vision for our product offering and leadership within our business, sales, and marketing teams to drive growth. This position is based in our Chicago office and will require travel approximately 20% of the time.
Job Responsibilities
- Forecast and deliver revenue targets for Morningstar’s equity research, manager research, and investment selection products lines for clients in the advisor segment in the U.S. and Canada
- Define and maintain Morningstar’s research offering relative to competitive offerings from other research firms and consultants
- Work closely with internal teams to deliver Morningstar research through proprietary client systems, Morningstar software, and third-party platforms
- Advocate internally and externally for Morningstar’s equity and manager research capabilities and differentiated methodology
- Enable and maintain knowledge of Morningstar’s research value proposition and delivery mechanics among Morningstar’s client service teams through ongoing training, documentation, and operational process improvement
- Cultivate strong partnerships with Morningstar’s sales teams to enable seamless knowledge sharing and ensure strong client successes
- Participate directly in client sales discussions, from discovery through implementation
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree and MBA and/or CFA or equivalent experience
- At least 5-7 years of experience in sales or client service, and/or 7+ years of experience in research with client engagement
- Fluency with technical delivery systems and experience with our aptitude for understanding Agile development techniques
- A passion for investing with strong knowledge of the mechanics of equities and managed products (open end funds, SMAs, CITs, ETFs, and other products)
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
- A demonstrated ability to influence internal stakeholders to build consensus among amid competing priorities
- An inquisitive and critical mind, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task
- Ability to look at situations from several points of view: internally, externally, and cross-functionally
- Ability to make timely decisions under tight deadlines with incomplete information
