ABOUT THE ROLE

Retail eCommerce is a fast-paced, large, and competitive industry, currently being dominated by a few large companies.  We believe this creates massive hurdles for individual consumers and retailers to have the choice and ability to connect with each other for magical shopping experiences. ShopRunner joined FedEx Dataworks in 2021 to combine FedEx’s vast shipping and supply chain knowledge, expertise, and data with ShopRunner’s eCommerce experience to improve the consumer shopping experience from awareness to return and increase our retailers’ influence and visibility throughout.

At our heart, we’re a technology and data company whose mission revolves around building products to bring the aggregate scale of our retailer network, FedEx’s shipping data, and membership program together to empower retailers in a world dominated by a few large companies. Our engineering, design, and product teams move quickly to keep pace with the changing market landscape, our customers’ needs, and our business growth. They need stability and confidence in the underlying infrastructure to experiment and build on and that is what our platform operations teams provide.

We are looking for a technical product manager, Platform Operations who is excited to:

  • Scale: Be at the center of strategic initiatives empowering developers & product teams to increase delivery velocity and stability while supporting our business growth.  
  • Developer Experience (DX) :  Obsessed with creating a magical developer experience that allows engineers of all flavors to maximize autonomy within the constraints of a growing and publicly traded enterprise.
  • Secure: make security an embedded part of the development process that developers, legal, security, and business stakeholders’ trust.

This role is US based only but we are open to any of our US offices in Chicago, IL, Conshohocken, PA (Philly), and New York City or fully remote in any of these states: CA, DE, IL, IN, FLA, MA, NY, NJ, NC, SC, PA, TX, UT, VA, WA, CT, MD, MI. From time to time, there will be limited travel to our offices as the need arises.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Define and own the platform operations strategy based on business objectives, roadmap, and deep understanding of how engineering and product teams operate, to improve cycle time and eliminate toil. 
  • Work with stakeholders and conduct any qualitative and quantitative analysis to discover needs as well as to prioritize the roadmap.
  • Build and dig into metrics such as helping product teams improve cycle time, reduce MTTR during outages and other related metrics that drive our platform operations. 
  • Drive successful launch and adoption of platform products and features  
  • Take ownership of engaging, educating, and evangelizing the solutions you build
  • Define direction and work efforts for the Cloud, Site Reliability, and Security Engineering teams, helping them to remove roadblocks and to continually deliver value to ShopRunner teams
  • Partner with engineering, analytics, and operations functions to ensure we are sustaining and growing the capability across platform, data, quality, & operations.
  • Ensure teams have consistent support, and visibility into the health of our development and release processes


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years experience in product management, successfully building, launching and growing platform products, bonus if in the eCommerce or supply chain space.
  • Demonstrated experience building products and services to accelerate internal engineering teams in a matrixed global environment.
  • Excellent technical understanding of software development lifecycle, DevOps, and SRE
  • Willingness to dig into the technology, meaning doing everything from reviewing a Pull-Request for requirements to throwing together a spec and flow for a Terraform module API to demonstrate developer needs.
  • Envisioned and delivered infrastructure and development products and services (internally or externally) at enterprise scale.
  • Operational experience in complex distributed systems, including defining, measuring and monitoring SLIs/SLO/SLAs towards high availability and reliability goals.
  • Bonus points: if you’ve been a hands-on-keyboard engineer in a former role
