Associate Strategy Director

Acting as an advocate for our clients’ business, the Associate Strategy Director provides oversight of multiple brands with a cornerstone client account and is a consultant to their clients. This role aids in the identification of business challenges and crafting the solutions that we deploy. They will lead, mentor and grow a team members and inspire a cross-competency team to deliver outstanding digital marketing solutions for our clients.


Job responsibilities


– Communicate a thorough knowledge of digital and relationship marketing principles, including: database marketing, email marketing, website / marketing performance analytics, content strategy, communications planning and user experience best practices

– Demonstrated ability to lead the generation of insight-driven recommendations using various inputs (primary research, secondary research, database data), including hypotheses and analysis plan development, recommendation formulation and presentation, as well as goal setting and measurement plans for results evaluation

– Proven track record of developing and executing internal best practices and client-facing initiatives with measurable results



– Clearly set expectations for all direct reports and evaluate performance based upon expectations

– Conduct timely performance appraisals of all direct reports to encourage, motivate and improve staff performance, and to guarantee consistency and uniformity in its application in accordance with agency standards

– Actively network to seek out new talent, and routinely interview candidates to add strength to the organization

– Educate and develop account management staff; coach and motivate account group leaders to effectively develop and motivate their direct reports; identify and recommend internal and external training opportunities


Skills required

– Working in and across digital channels

– Understanding of how marketing channels work together and impact each other

– Fluency with digital paid media and search channels

– Developing and deploying data driven segmentation and relationship marketing campaigns

– Developing measurement plans

– Awareness of and experience working with channel performance data

– Demonstrate considerable depth and knowledge of the brand’s segments, messages and marketing mix

– Showcase examples of intellectual flexibility in how they solved complex problems

– Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

– Working in cross-competency environments

– Possess credibility in the presence of the client

– Demonstrated effectiveness in the ability to provide quality client service

– Ability to:

  • Develop valued relationships with senior-level client management, based upon broad knowledge of digital marketing, promotional principles and insights
  • Anticipate and lead client perceptions of the creative product, and develop any necessary action steps required to ensure comfort levels
  • Manage challenging situations and recommend effective solutions to problems
  • Effectively delegate and manage multiple tasks
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of assigned product(s) and ability to provide clear direction to new business teams
  • Collaborate well with other agency departments, executive management and client management
  • Effectively educate, develop, lead and manage direct reports



The qualifications for the position of Associate Strategy Director are:

– Bachelor degree in business, marketing or communications required; MBA / Masters Integrated Marketing Communications preferred

– 7-10 years of digital strategy experience

– At least 2 years of supervisory experience

Funny you should ask, as I am one of the super-secret members of our super-secret MIRTH committee. Basically, we are fun planners. Let’s see, dip/chili/baking contests, random pancake breakfasts, team potlucks, beach day in the middle of winter, and one time we had a hobby horse competition. Oh, and who can forget beer o’clock every Friday?!

What projects are you most excited about?

We are putting a heavy focus on creating progressive web apps since a majority of our end users are mobile users. It allows regular webpages to behave like a native app on a mobile device to make the experience as seamless as possible. We are also focusing on tools for sales reps so they are able to quickly yet effectively engage HCPs.
