Home Chef is building a meal solutions destination within retail and the Category Development Manager has the exciting opportunity to develop the brand across a whole new set of product lines! This person will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, analyzing and leading the development of these new products and product categories to build the Home Chef retail portfolio.
Category management:
- Manage a portfolio of products and categories, with multiple initiatives in flight at any given time
- Oversee development process --competitive analysis and insights, co-owning brief development, managing rollout planning, setting pricing, etc.
- Implement category ‘test and learn’ initiatives - not just conceptualize solutions, but actually bring them to life
- Work closely with and regularly respond to stakeholders (internal, Kroger and 3rd party vendors) on category development to ensure the needs of the project and stakeholders are being met
- Work with cross functional teams, in and outside the company, and prioritize stakeholder feedback as received
- Develop well-thought out, data driven solutions and answers to strategic questions and challenges
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Build reporting tools to help synthesize and present data in accessible ways, such as dashboards or auto generated reports and emails
- Analyze results from ‘test and learn’ pilots and develop recommendations for future rollouts, product assortment, etc.
- Work with Home Chef and Kroger data sources to understand elements of the business such as customer behavior, sales, and internal performance metrics
- Develop solutions to automate certain manual or repetitive processes

- Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study
- 3+ years program, category and/or project management experience
- Familiarity with grocery, retail and / or CPG industry
- Strong ownership mindset
- Prioritization and project management skills
- Experience documenting processes, procedures, and rationales for projects and initiatives
- Experience in data driven problem solving such as correlation analysis
- Understanding of basic statistical concepts such as standard deviation
- Comfort working with large data sets, multiple data sources, and linking tab workbooks
- Proactive problem solver -- rather than just identifying a problem, figures out how to solve it -- what is needed, whose buy in is needed, and how to get i fixed
- No-ego utility player who is comfortable presenting at senior staff meetings or helping a colleague debug a malfunctioning Google Sheets model
- Thrives in an atmosphere of constant change and comfort with ambiguity
- Experience communicating initiatives and projects, with rationales for them, both via written and spoken channels
- Able to present data driven analysis succinctly and clearly
- Strong experience working in Google Sheets and/or Excel, Google Slides, Powerpoint, or other presentation tool
Approximately 10-20% travel is required
