So, what’s the role?

The Claims Team at Kin is looking for a Project Manager who can keep our vision for growth and excellence on track. As a Project Manager, you will be working with our Product Team and Operational Claims Team to ensure the right work is performed at the right time to achieve our top business priorities. You will be responsible for managing timelines, communications, risk, quality, and other delivery aspects across a variety of Claims-related projects, ranging from compliance initiatives, to state expansion, business process changes, system integrations, and more.

Project Managers collaborate with leaders, team members, and subject matter experts throughout the organization, working side-by-side from ideation through implementation and everything in between.

A day in the life could include:

  • Assisting leadership in their evaluation of new or expanded opportunities
  • Establishing a clear understanding of a project’s objectives and ensuring stakeholder commitment
  • Organizing work and focusing the core team on what needs to be accomplished
  • Measuring progress and working to ensure timelines are met
  • Ensuring all parties involved in the project have the information they need to know what is expected of them, when it is expected, and what (if anything) has changed
  • Consulting, learning from, and coaching throughout the project
  • Overseeing quality of work
  • Advising leadership on how to best achieve the project’s expected value and contain risks
  • Working with stakeholders to remove obstacles
  • Developing strategies that promote engagement and adoption of change
  • Proactively identifying and preparing leadership to address a project’s effects on people, processes, metrics, and systems

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

  • 6+ years total work experience
  • 3+ years project management experience
  • Extensive experience working with agile product and engineering teams in startup and/or rapid-growth environments
  • 2+ years P&C experience
  • Ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into concrete action plans
  • Experience owning process management or process improvement projects
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, working for a win-win while inspiring others to do the same
  • A passion for customer feedback and research
  • An eye for great products and willingness to advocate for new features with qualitative and quantitative reasoning
  • Ability to communicate with empathy and clarity
  • Ability to effectively communicate with engineers about technical features and product architecture
  • Comfort using task-management tools like Asana

Located in the historic Merchandise Mart Plaza, Kin's office is located directly off the Brown and Purple line stops, overlooking the Chicago River.
