We are looking for an experienced and energetic Compliance Manager- Monitoring and Testing and Risk Assessments to join OppLoans’ expanding and dynamic Compliance Department. This role will report directly to the Vice President of Compliance.
What you get to do:
- Assist the Director of Compliance and the CCO in enhancing our Compliance Monitoring and Testing Program and Compliance Risk Management Framework.
- Manage and run OppLoans’ Monitoring and Testing program, including review, analysis, communications with business, tracking, reporting, and schedule.
- Oversee the Risk Assessment process, including ascertaining inherent risk, reviewing business controls/control inventories, determining residual risk, reporting to Leadership, and assessing the need for action plans to reduce or mitigate risk further.
- Maintain procedures for monitoring and testing and risk assessments.
- Develop ongoing feedback loop related to issues and risk with Business, Legal and Compliance.
- Work with team members, Operational Risk, Legal, and Business to understand risk and controls/control inventories.
- Demonstrate functional or proficient working knowledge of the prudential, and consumer lending regulations including but not limited to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act; Truth In Lending Act; Fair Lending; Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices Act; Servicemembers Civil Relief Act; Telephone Consumer Protection Act; and their implementing Regulations as well as other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Lead and mentor direct reports.
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5-10 years relevant experience, preferably in consumer finance or fintech company.
- Experience at a high-growth start-up is preferred.
- Experience leading a team and managing direct reports.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills; detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- Excellent problem resolution skills.
- Ability to be strategic while providing tactical support
- Strong skills in EXCEL, PowerPoint, JIRA. SQL abilities a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with an attention to detail.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships, working with all levels with both internal and external customers. Enthusiasm for learning new things and taking on new projects.
- Ability to multitask as well as assess and change priorities.
- Strong understanding of monitoring and testing frameworks.
- Ability to work well individually, and in a team structure.
- A passion for improving the lives of consumers through OppLoans products.
- Humility, integrity and a killer sense of humor; you take your work seriously, but not yourself.
