Mainframe DIS, Senior Consultant

The Role

We are currently looking to hire a Mainframe DIS, Senior Consultant to join our team remotely in a contract to hire capacity.

As a Senior Consultant, Delivery Services within the DIS Mainframe team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining client print applications. The team reviews document specifications and participates in requirement gathering sessions for existing or new projects. The DIS team works closely with integrations and services teams and inicorporates results of their development (HPE pubs and MP bundles) into an application stream for the client’s mainframe.



The Senior Consultant is responsible for creating, testing and deploying the application components into production and finally, for supporting the production process itself in Client’s 24/7/365 environment. The Senior Consultant works with other DIS team members to ensure a cohesive implementation. The Senior Consultant interacts with the Client’s community and follows their process for code evaluation (ORT), XPTR report set-up (OVS) and migrations (ServiceNow). The Senior Consultant may work on multiple projects at any given time and must manage their time accordingly.



Daily basis Tasks:

  • Attend Daily Huddle
  • StreamWeaver development
  • Update and/or create new processes
  • Run tests for client verification
  • Support production jobs
  • Review daily issue log
  • Resolve issues


 

Responsibilities:

  • Examine sample client print streams to assess viability of print stream manipulation activities.
  • Provide input (through lead consultant or directly) to Composition and Design consultants regarding any potential downstream constraints related to print stream manipulation activities.
  • When required, lead the solution proposal process for the Document Engineering team for a given engagement
  • Review the requirements and develop a solutions proposal which includes application architecture, key risk areas and technical direction for prototype applications 
  • Provide recommendations to the internal team regarding metadata tags which would facilitate print stream manipulation activities 
  • Build the documentation to describe the application solution
  • When required, lead the solution proposal process for the DIS team for a given engagement
  • Review the requirements and develop a solutions proposal which includes application architecture, key risk areas and technical direction for prototype applications 
  • Provide recommendations to the internal team regarding metadata tags which would facilitate print stream manipulation activities 
  • Document all aspects of the solution through standard documentation (including inline code comments)
  • Maintain documentation throughout the life of the project
  • Provide troubleshooting skills to the internal team based on print stream knowledge
  • Mentor clients around technical issues
  • Provide backup support for other members of the team as required
  • Build the documentation to describe the application solution



Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Mainframe knowledge/ JCL + COBOL
  • StreamWeaver/EngageOne knowledge
  • Microsoft Office
  • Full software development lifecycle knowledge
  • Flexibility/Multitasking
  • Ability to think outside the box 
  • Experience interfacing with multiple clients
  • Postal requirement knowledge
  • Print Production Finishing equipment knowledge
  • Writing ability (communication and documentation)
  • Debugging skills
  • Experience in document engineering tools, including composition, print stream manipulation, archive, transforms etc.
  • Messagepoint software experience is a plus
  • Diagnosis of composition and print stream issues
  • Minimum 7 year’s experience with track record of increased projects of size and scope
  • College Diploma or University Degree in Business, Administration, Computer Science or Engineering (equivalent work experience in document engineering may be considered)
