The Upgrade Operations (UO) department specializes in performing software and hardware upgrades on live customer systems. The UO department focus is on minimizing the customer's downtime during software upgrades in order to optimize their upgrade experience during the moments that matter.
Job Description
Manages the development and/or implementation of Motorola Solutions products or services. Coordinates departmental or cross-functional teams, focused on delivering new or upgraded existing products or services. Manages projects from inception to completion (or transition), including tracking and evaluation of project performance. Ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and within accepted quality metrics. Participates in project review and status meetings, and communicates project status. Utilizes six sigma and project management methodologies to ensure maximum project effectiveness. Motivates project team to ensure optimal performance. May assist in the development of business plans, strategies, and approaches to take advantage of business opportunities.
Deliver Consulting and Project Management services in support of K-Core upgrade activities as summarized below:
K-Core Overall Portfolio management
• Use baseline and measure against Revenue for a margin profile.
• Evaluate delivery strategy and provide recommendations.
• Evaluate quoting strategy and provide recommendations.
• Support K-Core project management overflow
- Setup project meetings with internal and external team (include customer) duration of project.
- Own developing the Field Schedule and associated resource plan with an emphasis on meeting the overall budget.
- Work with CSM to identify technical resource and timing.
- Work with UO PMO to issue PO.
- Host regularly scheduled calls with customer and provide updates with meeting minutes.
- Develop & discuss the dispatch upgrade timeline with CSM/end customer as required.
- Develop and follow thru all the action items during the implementation process.
- Confirm with all the agencies that are impacted by upgrade are in loop and informed.
- Have a detail ITL discussion with partner/customer and obtain their approval. - Send the meeting minutes to customer as required.
- Confirm all the equipment has been shipped to site.
- Conduct the equipment inventory at site and provide status to project team.
- Remotely coordinate install activity at site.
- Provide daily progress update to customer via next day’s plan. Clearly communicate or include the any service interruption.
- Communicate with customer any & all services interruption frequently.
- Follow up with any action items from prior week.
- Make sure documentation has been revised / updated and provide to customer
- Close all the upgrade action item list
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
● Experience with at least one of the following: Public Safety communications systems, Military communications, Civil construction OR IT Networks
● Proficient in Microsoft Office (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint & Projects)
● PMP highly desired. PMP and/or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
● PM Masters Certificate a plus.
● Motorola Solutions Field System Integration experience a plus
● Understanding of two way radio infrastructure communications products, services, and systems.
● Understanding of local public safety customers, such as police, fire, and emergency medical services is a plus.
● Must be a self motivated team player able to work effectively with general guidance toward objectives.
● Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills
Basic Requirements
