Position Purpose

The Project Manager provides project leadership, management and oversight throughout the phases of Echo’s solution/software delivery life cycle (SDLC). Project under management will vary depending on size and scope and will entail fully integrated process, organizational, and information technology components. This position requires day-to-day management of project team personnel, communication with key stakeholders and subject matter experts, and hands-on, experience-based delivery leadership. This role will also require direct interaction with a broad range of senior, technical and functional managers and subject matter experts throughout the organization.

General Responsibilities

  • Conduct fact finding sessions with key business and IT staff to assess as-is capabilities, perform root cause analyses, define solution requirements, perform feasibility analyses, and define high-level solution alternatives and approaches
  • Prepare project proposals, business cases, and detailed project plans
  • Provide hands-on project management and actively manage the project plan, deliverables, dependencies, and outcomes for all aspects of the project (including business process, organization, and IT solution components) across all phases of the SDLC.
  • Actively monitor, manage, and communicate key project control dimensions including scope, time, cost, resources, risk, dependencies, procurement, and quality across all phases of the SDLC.
  • Develop and implement change management and communications plans to ensure solution adoption pre-, during-, and post-implementation
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of all project deliverables
  • Work with executive and senior management to improve overall project delivery and support processes
  • Develop, monitor, and manage project metrics, in particular, metrics associated with benefit capture and overall adoption

Required Qualifications

  • Project Manager experience required of 3-5 years experience
  • Must have some experience managing people or leading teams, either directly or indirectly
  • Exposure to the full SDLC experience in an Agile environment
  • Transportation/supply chain domain experience a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, fluid work environment
  • Self-managed and motivated
  • Ability to follow through with tasks to their completion
  • Very organized and detail-oriented
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

  • Develop and deliver well organized presentations
  • Anticipate and resolve complex issues and conflicts

Financial

  • Understand P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow basics
  • Understand and practice “earn vs. burn”, utilization and other project management financial metrics
  • Prepare complete business cases

Technical

  • Possess general understanding of application programming, data base and application design
  • Maintain an awareness of new and emerging technologies and their application
  • Understand the SDLC process, in particular with respect to custom software development

Education

  • Undergraduate Degree required or equivalent work experience
  • Preference of Computer Science, Engineering, or Business related degree
