This is an exciting role as your contributions will directly impact our growth and achievement of our company priorities and key results. Our team members will tell you that the people they work with are one of the best parts about Topstep, and you’ll get to work closely with all of them!

Excited about this opportunity? Read on, keeping in mind that we strongly encourage candidates of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. Each new hire is an opportunity for us to bring in a different perspective, and we are always eager to further diversify our company. Topstep believes that diverse people and ideas result in better business, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive culture where you can thrive.

The Role, along with everything you’d expect

  • The Project Manager role is an ideal opportunity to experience working in a fast-paced growing business while directly impacting high-level company priorities.
  • The role is a great fit for candidates who take pride in being process-oriented, and can also operate in controlled chaos.
  • The PM will work closely with our senior leaders, ideally keeping them out of the weeds while maintaining organization of project details, like scope, timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Understanding the scope and goal of every project will be key, so you can work with stakeholders to set milestones and deadlines and then ensure projects are delivered on time.
  • An important aspect of this role is remaining unbiased and neutral between departments, so as to facilitate productive conversation and negotiation of deliverables and resources.
  • Reporting to senior leadership on progress, blockers, resource needs, and other items is critical, so discretion on when and what to elevate is crucial.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Project Management experience. You’ve managed multiple large-scale and small-scale projects, each with stakeholders across the organization
  • Able to manage multiple projects at once. You need to be able to handle short and long-term projects with varying levels of complexity, while proactively communicating status, milestones, and obstacles on a regular basis
  • Ability to prioritize initiatives and clearly articulate trade-offs. This often requires creative thinking to identify and solve problems
  • Communicate effectively across the company. Communication is your strongest skill, hands down. You need to be able to communicate effectively between different disciplines and personality types
  • Managing Up. You can provide examples of how you’ve managed up, and what resulted each time
  • Risk management experience. You’ve also got multiple examples of anticipating potential blockers and things that could go wrong, along with the contingency plans you had at-the-ready
  • You have an ‘Above the Line’ attitude. Always accountable, proactive, and focused on how you can help to solve a problem; never blaming, making excuses, or waiting for others to jump in
  • Smart and approachable. Our team members are your main clients, so establishing a great rapport is one of the most important aspects of the role
  • Reporting skills. You’ll lead meetings, check-ins and stand-ups, and will need to distribute key information to stakeholders, so previous experience reporting to senior management is important
  • Excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and time management skills. These are probably assumed, but better safe than sorry.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and is able to excel in a fast-paced, high energy start-up environment.
