Sr. Manager, Technology Strategy & Portfolio Management

What will your day look like?
You will be responsible for managing technology transformation initiatives, and will have oversight of a team that manages and supports key initiatives for technology and the enterprise. This individual will also be responsible for developing the project management process for technology initiatives and will create the methodology and metrics to measure the value of technology investments and business value delivered by those investments. In addition, the Sr. Manager will be responsible for ensuring that our portfolio of technology projects and initiatives are clearly aligned to business strategy and will closely manage and provide visibility into our technology spend. The incumbent will work cross-functionally throughout the technology organization as well as across Alliant and will strive to build and maintain working relationships with other team members, vendors, stakeholders and other internal business partners.

- Responsible for managing and ensuring timely and accurate execution of multiple, complex projects that are key initiatives for the organization
- Fully leverage relationship management skills to successfully plan and execute required project initiatives
- Maintain regular communication and interaction with technology team members and all business partners
- Maintain awareness of and provide updates to leadership on the financial impact on the organization regarding technology project investments and operational expenditures
- Promote cooperation, negotiation and communication among and within teams; provide consulting services for customers, team members, business partners during the planning, design, implementation and testing of initiatives, upgrades and/or changes
- Identify, analyze, and lead the implementation of technology solutions to drive improved member experience, productivity, operational efficiency, and cost reduction
- Provide guidance and support in preparation, development and analysis of reports, metrics, presentations and dashboards for executive presentations, organization wide meetings and other forums
- Develop and manage communications for the technology organization
- Responsible for developing and managing the process for delivering technology initiatives that meet all information security, compliance and organizational policies
- Provide portfolio updates to the technology team and report out to the Executive Team on a regular basis
- Develop the methodology and metrics to measure the value of technology spend and return on investment for the organization
- Create and maintain portfolio reporting and dashboards for the organization’s use
- Partner with finance to lead the annual planning process, ensuring that finance has the information that they need to complete the budgetary process
- Deliver superior results through quality execution and best practice adaptation
- Demonstrate courage, ability and agility to understand and address organizational transition in real-time; establish expectations for the unexpected
- Translate strategic and operating plans into meaningful direction of projects, goals, priorities and activities; delivering on strategy through quality execution and best practice adaptation
- Capture, analyze, and understand the internal environment, team dynamics, and talent capabilities to address organizational refinement, agility and growth
- Champion Employee/Internal Customer Engagement, employee development and all cultural hallmarks through a strong leadership signature and a growing command of Alliant’s leadership competencies
- Continually assess and provide discerning development, insightful coaching and talent utilization/optimization for direct reports
- Apply High Performance Management practices in leading an engaged workforce in order to effectively leverage the full potential and talent of this function
- Provide a structural and consistent approach to ensure that individual development plans are in place, performance management is consistent, performance management process is respected and followed, and coaching and feedback are provided on a regular and dynamic basis.
- Work with your direct reports and help seek out growth opportunities for your reports; continually challenge reports to maximize their engagement and productivity
- Help propagate messaging across the organization that fosters a broader knowledge of Technology, promotes collaboration and influences constructive and positive change
Qualifications
What makes you a great fit?
You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in either Management, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, required; Master’s degree preferred, and you have:
- Minimum 7 years relevant experience, required
- Prior leadership experience and demonstrated ability to lead and develop a highly effective team. required
- PMP certification a plus, but not required
- Formal training in or experience with agile methodologies and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Robust data analysis skills and ability to analyze issues, identify and implement solutions
- Ability to think creatively to identify ways to improve team success
- Strong hands-on capability and spirit of leading by example
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees at all levels within the organization
- Ability to influence without authority
- Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills and the ability to build robust cross-functional relationships
- Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skills
