There is an exciting role possibly waiting for you as an experienced Sr. Project Manager.

We are looking to add a new Sr. Project Manager to support our Technology Team. As our Sr. Project Manager, you would play a significant role in building our project management practice and build upon our operational capabilities. You would be leaned on as a subject matter expert in the project delivery lifecycle.

Description:

The Sr. Project Manager is a senior member of the Technology Team that reports to the VP of Technology. This role functions as the key point-person for managing project collateral (ie. project charter, work breakdown structure, logs, tollgates,...etc.) and ensuring projects are executed on time and within scope. There would be multiple projects occurring sometimes at a program level that would need tracked and resource sharing managed. In addition, this role would work with our Scrum Master in the delivery workflow as we have a hybrid software delivery cycle (think WaterScrum, ScrumFall). The person in this role would be knowledgeable in project lifecycles and be familiar with the interworking of a software engineering organization. The Sr. Project Manager will manage projects from inception, initiation, and be able to hand-off the project to a Scrum Master. They will be responsible for tracking/reporting on various projects across technology and play a key role in capacity planning along with assisting in the management of the project pipeline.

 

Core responsibilities:

  • Is adept in simultaneously managing multiple short and long-term technology projects.
  • Leads project meetings as necessary and works with product management to kick-off projects or close them as needed.
  • Manages key project information in a project management tool such as Monday.com, Asana, Basecamp, Clarizen, etc., to provide the latest in our active project portfolio.
  • Partner with key stakeholders, product management, scrum master(s), and engineering management to help keep the delivery team focused on rapidly shifting priorities, and outlining next steps.
  • Ability to manage ad-hoc project requests as they arise from stakeholders and minimize delivery risks to existing work in progress.
  • Obtains and compiles all necessary project specifications and requirements at the onset of the project.
  • Develops project timelines, contingency plans, and manages timeline based on scope changes, business and client priorities and resource allocation
  • Identifies potential risks and scope creep; proactively works to mitigate these risks and communicate and accommodate changes when needed
  • Proactively communicates project status, project milestones and obstacles to team leadership on a regular basis
  • Initiating, coordinating, and enforcing policies and procedures to ensure appropriate staff are being engaged throughout the various stages of the project
  • Assists with training team members in the department workflow process
  • Project manages client implementations, directly with clients and with other departments within Everspring.

 

Required qualifications:

  •  5-7+ years professional work experience in technology project management.
  • Able to self-manage and prioritize daily work with limited direction
  • Deadline-driven, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong familiarity with PMI PMBOK (proj management body of knowledge)
  • PMP certification or equivalent PMI training preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working with an Agile software development team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively between different disciplines (development, creative, marketing, admissions, etc.) and personality types
  • Experienced power-user with a project management software such as Monday.com, Asana, Jira, or Smartsheets
  • Experience with identifying project work versus support work.
  • Experience working collaboratively with a Marketing team to establish and maintain systems and their requirements

 

Preferred qualifications:

  •  Experience with Monday.com, Confluence, Google G-Suite, Trello, Smartsheets, Jira, and BitBucket
  •  Experience working with team collaboration tools such as Slack
  •  Experience simultaneously managing multiple projects for a large portfolio of clients
  •  Experience working with capacity planning and demand management
  •  Experience working with web and software development teams
  •  Experience working with new business development teams or new product development teams
  •  Bonus experience: 3+ years professional work experience in higher education

 

Position is full-time and located in our offices in the Chicago Loop.
