Supplier Quality Lead, Co-Manufacturers

The Supplier Quality Lead, Co-Manufacturers is responsible for overseeing the food safety and quality programs of all 3rd party fulfillment partners. The primary goal of the Supplier Quality Lead, Co-Manufacturers is to ensure Home Chef branded product is produced with food safety and quality in mind. This position will work closely with the New Product Development Team (NPD) to approve new partners and monitor existing partners for performance, resolving issues as they arise.
Perform site assessments, follow-up with CAPA, and perform documentation review for all partners/potential partners
- Serve as the SME with regards to Home Chef’s expectations for 3rd party programs
- Approve suppliers and assign a risk level to based on site assessments and requested documentation review
- Partner with suppliers to determine root cause analysis and strive for continuous improvement within partners’ processes
- Determine best course of action to address repetitive customer complaints
Be present for new product runs, process changes, reformulation, trials to ensure process meets internal specifications
- Advise and correct any processes during production runs to ensure product meets Home Chef expectations from a food safety and quality perspective
- Verify that the documentation on file includes proper scope for products to be produced
- Escalate issues/concerns to the proper team members
Communicate Home Chef FSQA expectations to all supplier partners & hold them accountable
- Develop and communicate Home Chef food safety and quality expectations to all supplier partners
- Develop scorecard and/or KPIs to drive compliance and continuous improvement
- Determine cadence for performance review with all stakeholders and use data to lead performance reviews
Lead incident management and investigation for external parties; communicate disposition of product as necessary
- Serve as point person for all 3rd parties with regards to incidents
- Work with corporate FSQA team, NPD and other relevant parties for product disposition
- Follow-up with supplier partner for corrective action and preventive action plan
Visit stores where Home Chef product is sold verifying all food safety and quality expectations are met
- Randomly select stores to review product for Home Chef quality and food safety expectations
- Provide feedback to internal teams along with photos of product in the market if there are concerns
- Work with 3rd party to improve deficiencies identified in market

- Minimum Bachelor’s degree is food science, food technology, microbiology or a related field
- In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, a combination of education and experience may be considered, provided the candidate has demonstrated technical proficiency in the areas of food safety, food microbiology, food defense, and food policy
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in quality assurance, food safety, food distribution, food manufacturing, food supply chain, or related field
- Experience with GFSI, FDA and USDA audits
- Basic understanding of food regulations from FDA, USDA and other state and local authorities
- Knowledge of different manufacturing processes including but not limited to: cooking, chilling, forming, etc.
- Experience performing site assessments or audits on suppliers or on internal food safety and quality programs
- Exceptional leadership and project management skills required
- Experience working across multiple production facilities strongly preferred
- Self-starter who is results-oriented, analytical and a problem-solver
- Proven ability to deliver results in an unstructured, fast-paced environment
- Willing to travel up to 50% of time to supplier partners’ sites across the country
