The Supplier Quality Manager is responsible for managing the Supplier Quality team. This person is responsible for overseeing the food safety and quality programs of all ingredient and packaging suppliers and supporting needs for 3rd party co-manufacture partners. The primary goal of the Supplier Quality Manager is to ensure products produced for Home Chef are produced with food safety and quality in mind. This position will work closely with the Supply Chain Team to approve new partners and monitor existing partners for performance, resolving issues as they arise.

Develop methods for monitoring suppliers and holding them accountable to Home Chef expectations

  • Serve as the SME with regards to Home Chef’s expectations for all supplier partner types 
  • Serve as key contact for performance issues while effectively working with suppliers to put sustainable corrective actions in place
  • Own Supplier Quality programs as they pertain to Food Safety Plans
  • Develop scorecard and/or KPIs to drive compliance and continuous improvement 
  • Determine cadence for performance review with all stakeholders and use data to lead performance reviews

Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement projects that support company-wide FSQA initiatives as they relate to suppliers, ingredients, and supporting meal solutions components

  • Include cross-functional corporate stakeholders and local local facility team stakeholders as needed
  • Effectively train and empower site stakeholders
  • Escalate issues/concerns to the proper team members

Perform site assessments for new vendor qualification and for-cause visits

  • Review vendor program documentation, perform site assessment, deliver feedback as necessary
  • Follow-up with suppliers for corrective actions and supporting next steps as applicable 
  • Communicate findings with internal teams, escalate issues/concerns with appropriate team members

Review vendor documentation for vendor approval and perform supplier risk assessment accordingly

  • Verify that documentation on file includes proper scope for products to be produced and supplied
  • Review findings and corrective actions and develop a recommendation regarding the supplier’s fit in Home Chef’s supply chain

Set supplier quality strategic direction and team prioritization

  • Develop goals and direction for Supplier Quality Team that align to broader team and company goals 
  • Re-prioritize as needed

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability and/or other characteristics needed for this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities.

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree is food science, food technology, microbiology or a related field
  • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, a combination of education and experience may be considered, provided the candidate has demonstrated technical proficiency in the areas of food safety, food microbiology, food defense, and food policy
  • Minimum 3 years experience in quality assurance, food safety, food distribution, food manufacturing, food supply chain, or related field
  • Experience with GFSI, FDA and USDA audits
  • Basic understanding of food regulations from FDA, USDA and other state and local authorities
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes and process controls 
  • Experience performing site assessments or audits on suppliers or on internal food safety and quality programs
  • Exceptional leadership and project management skills required
  • Experience working across multiple production facilities strongly preferred
  • Self-starter who is results-oriented, analytical and a problem-solver
  • Proven ability to deliver results in an unstructured, fast-paced environment
  • Willing to travel up to 30% of time to supplier partners’ sites across the country
