Who You Are

You have a track record of expanding client relationships and growing business. With at least 15 years of experience, much of it in consulting, you’ve built long-term relationships with colleagues/clients upon a foundation of empathy and trust. You understand a client’s business, organization, strategy and priorities and bring solutions designed to meet their needs. You’re able to keep a pulse on the successful delivery of projects through excellent management of senior delivery leaders.

You have successfully:

  • Increased revenue from an existing portfolio of accounts in software technology consulting
  • Overseen the delivery of high impact agile software projects
  • Managed teams of developers and designers
  • Maintained & grown highest level client sponsor/executive relationships
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, especially conveying complex information in an understandable manner


What You’ll Do At 8th Light

You’ll manage a portfolio of client accounts.  You’ll support the career growth of the people you manage. You’ll serve as a member of 8th Light’s leadership team, working to improve our organization. 

As an Account Director, you will:

  • Oversee project delivery by coaching your project directors to success, or in some cases directly leading teams
  • Grow our pipeline by finding and closing opportunities to expand teams or work on additional projects with current clients, or by making introductions to potential new clients
  • Understand your clients’ business, organization, strategy and priorities
  • Maintain & grow highest level client sponsor/exec relationships
  • Design and implement successful account plans resulting in expansion of client relationships
  • Define 8th Light’s solution scope and approach for client needs; estimate staffing, timing, and skill sets needed to deliver the solution
  • Deliver expected account revenue and profitability
  • Drive creation and signature of client contracts.
  • Support the careers of the experienced project directors, developers and/or designers who report to you, and sponsor their direct reports

  • Define the skills needed for project teams and staff a team in partnership with 8th Light’s staffing specialist
  • Participate in our hiring process
  • Serve as a member of the 8th Light leadership team, leading or supporting initiatives to support 8th Light’s growth and improvement
  • Contribute to 8th Light and our broader community by, for example, serving as a mentor to apprentices, representing 8th Light by speaking, or writing externally
  • Travel occasionally (10-20%), once it is again safe to do so
