Account Strategist
Want to help transform the world’s most interesting brands into digital product leaders? At Punchkick, our team of senior engineers, designers, and product leaders help our clients connect with their users through custom mobile apps, web apps, and websites that we design, build, and test, all in house. We’re looking for an Account Strategist who will be responsible for growing and fostering their own book of business within our client accounts.
What is an Account Strategist?
Every Punchkicker is expected to be client-facing. That said, we have two roles that most often act as bridges between our clients and our delivery teams. The first is the Account Strategist—that’s you—and the second is the Product Manager. While Product Managers work to deliver amazing digital products, Account Strategists ensure our clients are satisfied with our team, our results, and our relationship with them. Together, the Account Strategist and Product Manager are nearly unstoppable at growing relationships and pursuing opportunities with our clients.
What does an Account Strategist do?
The Account Strategist is responsible for client growth (expressed in terms of real dollars) and client satisfaction (expressed in terms of real smiles), but your success is about more than just hitting financial targets:
- You’re able to sniff out problems or opportunities with your clients, their business, and within their industry and bring solutions to the table faster than your clients can request them.
- Your background in technology and design gives our clients and our delivery teams confidence that every innovative recommendation you make is grounded in reality and can be accomplished by our team.
- You can make VP-level (and higher) client stakeholders trust you deeply the first time you meet them.
- You have no trouble getting your hands dirty with a delivery team when it’s needed and can be sure the logistical side of our world (invoicing, reporting, and the like) runs smoothly.
- You can build and deliver persuasive, well designed presentations while—critically—reading the room and pivoting your approach when things aren’t going the way you planned.
What prior experience do Account Strategists have?
Successful Account Strategists come from many backgrounds. The best frequently carry a mixture of the following prior work experiences or skills:
- Working in an agency environment, serving clients, preferably through designing and building custom software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience leading conversations with both client business and technical teams.
- Deep understanding of Agile development principles and Lean UX practices.
- Quota-carrying sales responsibilities, preferably with a focus on growing and supporting an existing book of business.
- Willingness to learn and grow through continuous development.
- Fanatic attention to detail and the ability to prioritize work in a way that generates the most value for our clients and our company.
- Ability to negotiate contracts with VP and C-Suite level client stakeholders.
- Leading or playing a role in new product discovery processes or workshops.
