+ Position Overview

DMDII, the manufacturing lab within UI LABS, is seeking motivated candidates for an entrepreneurial, sales-and-relationship minded Director of Business Development. This position reports to the Chief Technology Officer and the DMDII Executive Director. This role would work in conjunction with many teams across the organization, and is self-directed, providing a candidate with autonomy over the business development function.

Candidates must have a strong working knowledge related to the building and management of internal sales/marketing protocols, and customer relations within an enterprise. Specific professional experience in investor relations, strategy consulting, or sales, sales operations, marketing, and customer relations/engagement management at a successful enterprise are essential.

This position is best-suited for a hands-on, self-starter who can create a robust business development process and pipeline to attract top-tier industry members.

+ Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of UI LABS’ industry recruitment strategy, sales processes, and workflow. 
  • Develop a strategic pipeline of prospective members, craft tailored recruitment strategies and manage prospects through the recruitment funnel.  Develop targeted prospects and form a rapport with key points of contact at prospect accounts.
  • Lead the creation and deployment of all communication and materials for potential prospects.   Work collaboratively across UI LABS teams to prepare, assess, and manage specific prospect due diligence reports and other business materials, including but not limited to prospect press releases, presentations, Q&A sheets, key meeting notes, presentations, and other essential messaging documents.
  • Establish sales support processes, systems and metrics, including expansion and management of salesforce.com. 
  • Deploy an effective system for evaluation and prioritization of target prospects, working with the Director of Strategy to align to UI LABS strategic priorities.   Own prospect information, and coordinate information request calls and analysis with each respective team.
  • Institute procedures and best practices for industry and company research and analysis.  Prepare the leadership the team for face to face meetings as well as phone calls related to recruitment, including developing scripts and assembling appropriate staff participation.  Conduct feedback sessions after prospect meetings.
  • Manage the customer/member recruitment-related calendar of events (initial meetings, conferences, calls, and other promotional events), including scheduling, senior management participation and all meeting logistics.
  • Partner with cross functional teams on messaging and ad hoc requests.
  • This position requires ~25% travel.

+ Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business operations required.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of professional experience leading sales and/or sales operations (particularly in selling professional services), strategy consulting, and customer relations/engagement management at a successful enterprise
  • Strong research acumen with an understanding of vertical markets/sectors and obtaining key findings/filings to obtain a fulsome understanding of a prospect.
  • Proven background of understanding how to mine and then develop key relationships or key points of contact within a customer/member prospect.
  • Experience with leading customer relationship management software programs.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with senior level executives and stakeholders; strong team player.
  • Must be a highly organized self- starter and be able to operate independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others and build business relationships throughout the organization and external contacts
  • Curious and inquisitive by nature with high level of intellectual capacity. Hands-on leader with significant drive and initiative.
  • Experience excelling within fast paced, high energy environments.
