Director of Business Development, Index Model Solutions
In this position, you will be an integral part of building a new business in one of the fastest-growing segments of financial services. You will be the first sales person dedicated to licensing of Morningstar’s family of indexes—which include equity, fixed-income, asset allocation, and ESG indexes—to retail & corporate RIAs along with platforms such as, but not limited to, TAMPs, robo-solutions, digital advice providers. The goal is to license our index models as the basis to create investable products in the form of separately managed accounts. We are looking for a creative, self-starter with the ambition to build something new and a strong background in separately managed account sales in the RIA & platform segment. This position will be based in Chicago and under normal (non-Covid) conditions, will require significant travel.
Responsibility:
+ Meet and exceed annual revenue targets by maintaining a clean, full sales pipeline of opportunities with both new prospects and existing clients.
+ Prospect, nurture and close new relationships for index models as SMAs
+ Manage and own sales process, including sourcing new opportunities, conceiving and presenting unique solutions to meet client needs, and involving the appropriate team members to scope the feasibility and negotiate pricing in order to bring the opportunity to a close.
+ Coordinate all prospect meetings, client presentations, and support RFP activities and any other sales activities related to growing the business.
+ Develop strong internal relationships with our generalist sellers, product managers, marketing team, and senior management.
+ Act as a conduit between the clients and new product development team
+ Work closely with peers to share insights and assist in cross-sell opportunities.
Requirements:
+ A self-starter with a stellar sales track record, a strategic approach to sales, and a keen interest in business development.
+ An undergraduate degree with at least ten years of client-facing experience within the financial services industry.
+ A team-oriented sales professional with extensive knowledge of the financial services industry, as well as of key industry trends in the investment management, product structures, indexing and retirement services environments.
+ Strong rolodex in the RIA, IBD, Wirehouse, & Platform segments.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as an aptitude for negotiation and persuasion.
+ Fluent use of Morningstar Direct & Presentation Studio is a plus
+ Prior experience as an investment professional and an MBA, CFA, or CFP designation is highly desirable.
