Job Summary:

RedShelf’s Director of Business Development, Publisher Relations is responsible for establishing and growing partnerships with publishers and content creators. Our Director, Business Development reports directly to our Chief Operating Officer, and works alongside the COO to develop and execute strategic plans and initiatives that optimize RedShelf’s publisher partnerships and revenue growth.



Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the COO to develop and implement strategies for expanding partnerships and achieving aggressive digital growth within the educational publishing community.
  • Identify new business opportunities for RedShelf’s publisher-facing products, tools, and services, and lead new business pitches, proposals, and contract negotiations.
  • Manage individual contributions and personal performance through high impact KPIs and milestone attainment as defined in collaboration with the COO.
  • Identify, gather and illustrate data (both internal and external) that gives RedShelf and our team members a competitive advantage when partnering with a wide range of partners (e.g., publishers, courseware providers, 3PLs, digital retailers, online marketplaces, etc.) 
  • Provide a consultative experience that optimizes RedShelf’s publishing partner relationships and maximizes our joint reach into the digital course materials marketplace.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of progressive sales and business development experience.
  • Proven success in exceeding goals and expectations in edtech and/or publishing industries, as well as keen understanding of the latest challenges, opportunities, and trends in the digital course materials marketplace. 
  • Ability to manage a large book of business.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. 
  • Outstanding planning, leadership, project & time management, peer relationship, collaboration, data analysis, business and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with a concentration on Excel skills and expertise with CRM software.
  • Eagerness to engage in person (i.e. travel) and virtually with partners and colleagues at meetings, trade shows, and company events.
  • This is not a remote position -- located in the Greater Chicagoland Area preferred.

 

Other Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge and appreciation of the advances in educational software, course materials, and digital publishing.
  • Comfort and/or experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Leadership skills that foster staff development and team building.
