Cars.com is looking for an experienced programmatic sales superstar to refine our programmatic and data sales strategy and be our internal and external programmatic and data subject matter expert. This person will work closely with both the sales and back end ad tech teams to ignite our already rapid programmatic revenue growth across programmatic guaranteed, preferred deals, private marketplaces and open auction. We’re the leaders in online automotive programmatic but want to extend our automotive lead while becoming the overall programmatic industry leaders. Responsibilities

  • Achieve quarterly and annual programmatic revenue sales growth goals across clients and across the team
  • Develop and nurture day-to-day DSP, trading desk ad and data exchange relationships
  • Grow programmatic revenue across all national, regional and near endemic advertisers
  • Open doors for existing sales team and support their sales efforts with industry expertise
  • Work closely with our Revenue Management, Product Marketing, Product and Ad Ops teams to design the right mix of programmatic and data solutions
  • Work with back end programmatic teams to ensure campaigns are set up properly, are delivering and optimized to maximize both yield and advertiser ROI
  • Ensure our audiences and solutions are positioned and communicated properly both in our sales collateral and within the exchanges
  • Utilize performance reporting, data and insights to identify new programmatic direct advertisers as well as to inform future solution development
  • Represent Cars.com as a speaker and thought leader at industry events such as AdExchanger, JD Power, Digiday, etc.

Desired Skills and Attributes

  • Extensive experience with ad tech, programmatic, data, audience buying, and working with trading desks and DSPs, preferably in a sales capacity
  • Solid understanding of marketing and advertising goals and strategies and how these affect product and revenue optimizations
  • Strategic thinker with excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Comfortable taking ownership of projects and showcasing key accomplishments
  • Proven track record of sales success, achieving and surpassing goals
  • Solid understanding of digital advertising and familiarity with programmatic display, native, social, campaign performance metrics, tracking, performance measurement and attribution
  • Fast-paced, energetic and curious sales leader. Confident challenging the norms, innovating and building new business
  • Familiar with the auto industry and competitive environment including knowledge of competitive product offerings.
  • Passionate student of online media best practices, trends and players
  • Ability to work individually and collaboratively to drive business forward
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel 50% to meet with clients, build relationships, attend conferences, etc.

Education Requirement

A Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communications, marketing, or a related discipline is preferred, though candidates with relevant experience who hold other degrees will be considered.

MBA a plus

Experience Requirement

7-10+ years experience developing business and relationships with Trading Desks, DSP’s, media agencies, and other programmatic partners, preferably with an SSP or publisher

Previous management experience
