Director of Sales, Grocery- West: The Director of Sales, Grocery- West is responsible for growing our business in the Southwest, West and Midwest regions within the Grocery Channel.

General Functions + Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Provide direction, development and motivation to the Regional Sales team managers to maximize business opportunities and objectives
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of plans for Regional Sales Managers and their retailers
  • Work to coach and develop Territory Managers with Regional Sales Managers
  • Work closely with Director of Grocery, East to ensure best practices and mistakes are shared openly and consistently guide and mentor Regional Sales Managers on how to manage
  • Be Fearless: Provide feedback in real time, engaging in difficult conversations
  • Tone Setting: Embody the RXBAR culture and sales team values and reinforce the “RXBAR Sales Call”
  • Be Humble, by embracing failure, learning from other’s examples land showing appreciation for other departments within RXBAR
  • Engage in 1:1s each week with the Grocery Team members in the West
  • Perform Market Visits with each Territory Manager on a quarterly schedule, reinforcing high level strategy at the retail level and amongst small chains

Sales Execution

  • Responsible for regional, headquarter and store level sales execution for the following customers: Whole Foods, Albertsons Safeway and Sprouts
  • Collaborate with VP of Sales, Marketing, Sales Planning and Sales Support to create and implement strategic programs for each key retailer
  • Push Boundaries with tough conversations and the pursuit of creative solutions for growth
  • Meet with key customers to present business reviews and category reviews
  • Great to work with: be available to, and build personal relationships with, key partners within retailer, distributor and broker networks
  • Develop relationships with, manage and train assigned brokers
  • Formulate promotional calendars against trade spend budget
  • Study and utilize market trend data to assist in the selling process
  • Execute new items through product launches or new items within existing customers
  • Communicate and implement price changes as provided from management
  • Ensure RXBAR pricing architecture is executed within the Western region and in coordination with the rest of the business
  • Actively participate in trade shows and customer shows

Bridge Building

  • Maintain excellent customer, vendor and internal relationships
  • Advocate cross functionally in support of the 2018 strategic grocery plan
  • Cultivate great relationships throughout the food industry

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Positive attitude, a thirst for knowledge, and an excitement for growing our business
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 8+ years’ experience in retail sales and merchandising in the grocery industry
  • Currently employed as Regional Sales Manager or equivalent position within the retail food class of trade
  • Proven and successful sales management track record
  • Leadership skills and competencies for advancement within the company
  • Established relationships with distributor and retailer customer base
  • Experience in sales and expense budgeting and management to budget
  • Broker management experience
  • Knowledge of the natural/organic industry
  • Excellent communication skills with external customers, peers, supervisors, and internal supporting departments
  • Has a home office and is able to work independently and remotely
  • Ability to travel for trade shows, sales calls, and meetings - approximately 50% of time
  • Proven integrity in life/employment and honesty in dealings with others
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Occasional and event related weekend work is required
