What You'll Bring
This person is a direct report to the Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel overseeing global litigation, government enforcement, legal strategy and operations, HR, IP, real estate, and insurance risk management. They will provide insurance risk management expertise across all business units in the areas of risk identification, risk control (loss prevention), and risk financing to attain maximum protection for the company at the most economical rate. This person will assist in the development of company-wide risk management/insurance programs. This person develops business relationships with insurance brokers, underwriters, contractors, consultants, field and corporate personnel across all lines of insurance.
Also, will be the legal liaison to Finance/Accounting partners in the financial reporting and tracking of litigation.
BS/BA Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in risk management, finance, or a business-related field and a minimum of 10 years of Insurance and/or Risk Management experience.
Ability to interpret and understand contract language and strong familiarity with the commercial insurance industry.
Understanding of loss control management and claims administration procedures.
Strong project management skills.
Strong financial acumen, including familiarity with accounting principles, forecasting and budgeting.
Experience with MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint.
Proactive, analytical, solutions-oriented.
Strong collaboration and verbal/written communication skills.
Impact You'll Make
Insurance Risk Management:
Directs the development, implementation, administration, and claims management of programs and policies designed to mitigate liability and risk exposure to the company.
Manages insurance programs such as professional liability/network security and privacy liability, management liability, property, primary and excess casualty, foreign liability and other insurance policies.
Evaluates risks as to frequency and potential severity, including property values, assesses those risks that are and are not insurable, and works cross functionally to assist in the measurement of financial impact to the company.
Counsel business units on insurance risk management.
Prepares and presents insurance reports and recommendations for management.
Directs insurance negotiations, selects insurance brokers and carriers, and places insurance. Assist foreign operations with local placement of insurance policies.
Reviews and manages policy renewals, claims administration, issuance of insurance certificates, budget planning and forecasting, and risk mitigation programs.
Manage workmen compensation claims.
Negotiates favorable, non-standard insurance language in customer, vendor and sub-contractor contracts; coordinates with in-house legal counsel and or third party risk management staff to negotiate insurance requirements.
.Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations relating to insurance, where the company conducts business.
Litigation Finance:
Manages the financial processes, tracking, and reporting of litigation including Forecasting, Budgets, Accruals, and Invoices.
Prepares reports for Finance/Accounting partners and senior management, relating to financial impact of litigation.
May also have supervisory responsibility involving staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training, and developing direct reports.
