So, what's the role?

The Director, Corporate Development drives growth and strategy for Kin. The position is responsible for conducting initiatives to capitalize on development opportunities, including strategic partnerships and acquisitions. In collaboration with the Executive team, this role completes data analysis, market modeling, partnership development, and exploration into external business pursuits.

A day in the life could include:

  • Help develop long-term strategic corporate plan
  • Identify and evaluate business opportunities from external sources and develop business cases
  • Screen potential deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, financial implications, and internal priorities
  • Perform quantitative analysis, financial modeling, and market modeling to determine the business case of corporate transactions
  • Together with cross-functional leaders, execute on new business opportunities that align with Kin's corporate strategy and oversee assigned opportunities through close collaboration with internal and external parties
  • Serve as the main point of contact for potential partnerships and acquisitions
  • Project manage internal and external stakeholders through transaction lifecycle
  • Directly negotiate agreements on behalf of Kin
  • Partner cross-functionally on large-scale and strategically relevant developments
  • Partner with Executive team to provide input for closing strategic gaps

I've got the skills...but do I have the necessary ones?

  • Significant experience in Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital, or Management Consulting
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking to support investment decisions
  • Strong track record of success in negotiations
  • Demonstrated experience in financial modeling, forecasting, and various valuation methodologies
  • Experience leading and coordinating cross-functional teams
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, communication capabilities, and the ability to influence multiple stakeholders with competing / conflicting interests
  • Capable of organizing information succinctly and communicating to all levels of an organization
  • Proficiency in technology and comfortable working with technology leaders
  • Experience in insurance, real estate, or tech preferred

Located in the historic Merchandise Mart Plaza, Kin's office is located directly off the Brown and Purple line stops, overlooking the Chicago River.
