Echo Global Logistics is a leading provider of technology-enabled transportation management services. We are looking for a logistics/supply chain professional who can lead teams in providing great service to our customers. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of all modes of transportation, has customer facing experience and skills and is highly analytical while still outgoing and personable.
Part of the Managed Transportation department, you will manage one or more account teams with the Team Leads reporting directly to you. You will keep the team focused on enhancing client relationships and achieving business goals. Major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: creating and leading a strategy to meet internal/external account goals, establishing a scope of services to address the client's business objectives, implementing programs and business processes to continuously improve transportation management services and building substantial relationships with both clients and vendors/carriers.
Responsibilities:
Every task should focus around building relationships with customers through constant contact and advocacy by offering solutions, solving problems and managing complaints while constantly trying to make yourself, your team and your department a more efficient and better place to work. Each Managed Transportation client is different requiring customized services and job functions. It is your responsibility to make sure the whole team clearly understands these customizations and the reasoning behind them so they can provide our clients with world class service.
Client Relationship Management

  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPI) with clients that can be measured and monitored to determine the success of their partnership with Echo
  • Proactively manage client specific objectives making sure these objectives are clearly understood by all members of the account team
  • Cultivate strong business relationships with clients by assessing complex situations, identifying root causes, and focusing onsolution basedstrategies that generate positive results for the client and Echo
  • Conduct market research to proactively communicate industry trends that will impactclientsbusiness
  • Identify growth opportunities and competitive threats within assigned client base
  • Develop and execute strategies to win identified opportunities and address competitive threats
  • Assess client technical and integration requirements, then translate those needs within Echo and assume a project management role to oversee completion
  • Conduct quarterly account review sessions to continuously instill Echo's value and partnership
  • Responsible for contract renewal and pricing negotiations


Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead one or more account teams comprised of a Team Lead with Account Executives reporting to them
  • Cultivate talent through teaching, coaching, and developing your Team Leadson a daily basis
  • Hold regular developmental conversations providing your direct reports with relevant feedback to help them succeed
  • Establish and manage against measurable team goals and objectives
  • Hold Team Leads and their direct reports accountable for execution of internal and external commitments


Account Management

  • Responsible for managing profitability, account receivables, and client invoicing accuracy
  • Use internal reporting tools to analyze Echo's performance against client specific KPI's and proactively address areas for concern
  • Create a culture of continuous quality improvement and maintain a log of the account team's efforts and accomplishments demonstrating value and commitment to our clients
  • Engage in the implementation process as soon as assigned a new account, cultivating a clear understanding of Echo's commitment to the client and laying the foundation for along standingpartnership
  • Ensure that all aspects of a client contract are effectively communicated and managed


Weekly & Monthly Goals

  • Ensure regular account team meetings address operational and client relationship objectives
  • Conduct weekly conference calls with clients demonstrating Echo value and continuous improvement
  • Measure and communicate Echo's performance against client specific KPI's
  • Review Sales Activity and other internal reporting to identify and quickly correct margin errors
  • Monitor and manage account contribution margins


Annual Goals

  • Review account performance and execute a strategy to achieve both quantitative and qualitative goals
  • Complete a thorough performance evaluation for each of your Team Leads reviewing developmental progress from the previous year and identifying areas for growth
  • Establish Revenue and GP goals for the coming year
  • Review and renew client contracts as appropriate
  • Assess annual rate increases and needs for pricing negotiation
  • Responsible for account staffing and P&L management
  • Ensure regular account team meetings address operational and client relationship objectives
  • Conduct weekly conference calls with clients demonstrating Echo value and continuous improvement
  • Measure and communicate Echo's performance against client specific KPI's
  • Review Sales Activity and other internal reporting to identify and quickly correct margin errors
  • Monitor and manage account contribution margins


Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years' experience developing and managing key strategic accounts of $5M + revenue
  • Self-managed and motivated with a strong desire to succeed and achieve goals
  • Proven leader with ability to develop and lead teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation and presentations skills
  • Transportation /Supply Chain and Logistics background
  • Knowledge of various modes Transportation (Truck Load, LTL, 3PL, Small Parcel, Air / Ocean)
  • Ability to learn Echo's proprietary Transportation Management Systems
  • BA/BS Degree in business, supply chain/logistics, or related field


Work environment/physical demands summary:
This job operates in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office with an open seating floor plan. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear.
