National Sales Manager, Mass

National Sales Manager: RXBAR is one of the fastest growing natural brands in the country. This growth comes from dynamic distribution channels including e-commerce, independent specialty locations (coffee shops and fitness studios), strategic enterprise accounts like Caribou and Life Time Fitness and traditional retail outlets (Grocery, Convenience, Club). RXBAR expansion in the Mass channel has created opportunity for growth and increased brand awareness. The National Sales Manager, Mass will be responsible for growing our business with Target and Walmart.

We are looking for someone to lead customer strategy and relationship building within these key large format customers and facilitate cross-functional collaboration internally to grow our business in the channel. The ideal candidate for the role is a self-starter, a strong collaborator, has great organization and communication skills, can work independently, and is hungry to grow a new brand within the Mass channel.

General Functions + Responsibilities:

Sales

  • Develop and execute sales plans for Target and Walmart
  • Manage every day and promotional pricing
  • Build strong relationships with HQ buyers and their extended buying team
  • Prepare and meet with customers during business reviews
  • Ensure execution of new product launches, promotions and secondary placements
  • Lead, train and build a strong relationship with assigned brokers

Planning and Strategy

  • Work with Broker partner and RXBAR’s Category Insights & Sales Planning teams to understand and manage:
    • Distribution
    • Voids
    • In-stock Levels
    • Pricing/Promotion
    • Display Compliance
  • Leverage insights from Category Insights & Sales Planning to elevate RXBAR’s presence throughout the stores
  • Build a deep understanding of the retailer’s business. Talk to other brands, brokers and buyers, listen to earnings calls and read articles related to the Target and Walmart businesses

Cross Functional

  • Collaborate with Category Insights & Sales Planning team to identify trends and opportunities for brand development within the mass channel
  • Work with Sales and Finance teams to build an annual sales plan and review weekly updates and progress with Manager
  • Understand the competitive dynamics in the Mass Channel—discover where can we learn from leaders and find opportunities to take more share
  • Actively participate in industry trade shows and customer shows
  • Maintain excellent customer and RXBAR team member interdepartmental relationships

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in retail sales and merchandising in the grocery industry
  • Currently employed as an Account Manager or equivalent position focused on Target and/or Walmart
  • Proven and successful sales management track record
  • Leadership skills and competencies for advancement within the company
  • Established relationships with distributor and retailer customer base
  • Experience in sales and expense budgeting and management to budget
  • Broker management experience
  • Excellent communication skills with external customers, peers, supervisors, and internal supporting departments
  • Ability to travel for trade shows, sales calls, and meetings - approximately 50% of time
  • Proven integrity in life/employment and honesty in dealings with others
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Occasional and event related weekend work is required
