As the Regional Vice President of Business Development, you will own the 200-person high-speed, high-growth new sales function of local and be a key member of the executive sales leadership team. You will be responsible for executing Groupon’s strategic vision in the Chicago and Phoenix offices, creating quarterly roadmaps, and ensuring all operations and strategies are implemented successfully and on time.

 

You'll need deep management and sales experience. But you'll have the opportunity to demonstrate your sales leadership on a grand scale. This is a unique opportunity to coach and develop and grow sales reps and teams at multiple levels.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Motivate and lead our company’s inside sales professionals across three different levels of experience and four verticals
  • Sales team engagement: It’s critical that you can become a trusted advisor to both merchants and sales teams, can seek out ideas and test potential solutions, while delivering value to our clients
  • Implementation: Build a sales playbook to prioritize and allocate resources and see those projects through
  • Developer of people: As a manager of managers, work through direct reports and frontline managers to develop, train, and mentor our sales force to become stronger salespeople
  • Balance short and long-term strategies: Inspire, change and support the culture to achieve immediate progress while simultaneously developing quarterly and annual strategies to grow sales results
  • Effective communicator: Ensure the sales force receives all relevant and necessary information for sales representatives and leaders to carry out Groupon’s vision
  • Data-driven decision-maker: Set clear objectives and measures, monitors progress, results and adjust as necessary in order to meet financial goals
  • Industry flexibility: You should be passionate about maximizing process productivity across different industry verticals while coaching sales teams to become experts in providing solutions for their clients
  • Innovation: We need someone who can unilaterally craft ideas and strategies to drive quarter over quarter growth
  • SVP collaboration and exposure: Work and present to C-Level leadership to obtain agreement and support
  • Cross-functional alignment: This leader will align and collaborate with finance, product, operations, HR, etc to successfully execute
  • Product leadership: This role will provide product with data-driven feedback from clients to optimize company-wide best practice-sharing, and influence product development decisions

 

Qualifications:

  • We are looking for someone with a Bachelor’s Degree, 5+ years of inside sales management experience, and 3+ years in a “manager of managers" role
  • We work in a high-volume outbound calling inside sales environment with a fast sales cycle, so you will need experience leading a large sales organization with managers and 50+ sales professionals, mentoring, developing, and motivating both managers and salespeople
  • A track record of successfully leading others to meet and exceed measurable sales and revenue goals
  • Is an effective communicator who can articulate business value to multiple audiences
  • Experience developing, implementing, and evolving a sales process as new products and services are introduced
  • The dedication, prioritization, ownership and comfort in ambiguous situations required to succeed at start-up speed
