Senior Director of Carrier Sales (Director/VP)


About the Role


The Senior Director of Carrier Sales will oversee the entire carrier organization through managing the Carrier Sales Department, the Enterprise Fleet Department and the Carrier Operations Department. This organization will spearhead Shipwell’s strategic objectives to drive automation and efficiencies through internal technology enhancements while maintaining traditional truckload brokerage success. This individual will create a high-performing culture by leading the department through training and coaching to execute the Shipwell mission. This individual will:


  • Execute the sales and operations strategy for Shipwell’s carrier network and ensure technology adoption from our carrier partners 
  • Create and cultivate a highly performant culture that is driven through strategic carrier partnerships, technology innovation and employee development
  • Strengthen the departments knowledge of the truckload market and contribute to pricing strategies through data driven analytics and market insights
  • Create diligent and clearly communicated SOP’s to maintain Service Level Agreements and hold the department to service level KPI’s and metrics
  • Formulate, enforce, measure and communicate department wide KPI’s and OKR’s
  • Work hand-in-hand with other department heads to develop and maintain strategic objectives and goals for the organization 
  • Ensure the growth of the department through active involvement in the hiring process, coaching, and enhancing the training curriculum 
  • Manage the sales process within the carrier network and maintain the sales pipeline, churn reports, carrier retention initiatives and monitor technology adoption within the network
  • Work with your Director level and Manager level reports to ensure they are leading Shipwell’s core behaviors for their respective teams 
  • Report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer and be an active member of the Shipwell executive team to align on company wide goals and objectives 
  • This role will be based in Austin, TX


What You’ll Need


The prospective candidate will have the following experience:


  • 8+ years of Carrier Sales leadership experience and exposure to tech-enable brokerage practices
  • Bachelor Degree, MBA preferred
  • Can do attitude that enjoys building and improving
  • Elite attention to detail and organization skills with excellent communication skills 
  • Dynamic leadership skills and comfortability to speak with Shipwell’s largest clients
  • Proficient at Excel, Google Sheets, and/or Looker
