The Challenge

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team and help us continue to delight our customers. This is a role for someone who considers themselves to be an Engineer by identity and a true, deep technical expert. You should have lots of experience working with different technologies and seeing them succeed and fail in various situations. Oak9 is looking for a technical leader who is interested in helping set strategic direction, architect the product, educate our engineers, and participate in development.

The Skillset

• 6+ years of experience in a technical leadership role and architecture experience in software development 
• Consider and propose new programming language & platform choices for the organization 
• You are approachable and a great communicator as you serve as a role model, mentor, and coach within the engineering organization 
• You encourage innovation and foster an environment of continuous improvement 
• Experience with Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment tools and processes 
• Experience in product development and building application with .NET, Golang, C# or other programming languages 
• Expertise in developing complex cloud-based product/services using Azure, AWS or other cloud technologies 

In 30 days, you will

• Get to know oak9! Learn about our systems, processes, people, and vision 
• Become intimately familiar with cloud service provider offerings and security considerations associated with them 
• Apply software engineering best practices in code, architecture, and testing to the oak9 platform
• Contribute to product development sprints 

In 60 days, you will...

• Deliver software features with exceptional quality, meeting designated release plans and delivery commitments 
• Implement distributed system components to meet service level objectives, provide scalability vs performance tradeoffs of subcomponents, and make design recommendations for the areas you own 
• Mentor and nurture Full Stack Developers to encourage stronger coding practices and critical thinking

In 90 days, you will...

• Drive long-term Architecture/Technology roadmap, shaping organizational strategy with long-term considerations for technical architecture 
• Articulate a coherent future vision for systems that span teams or many systems across teams
