What makes this role rewarding?
Sourcing, developing and incubating fintech partnerships across diverse loan categories is critical to Alliant. These activities create origination channel flexibility, contribute to the achievement of revenue and profitability goals, and provide assets for Alliant's balance sheet and distribution activities. The Vice President, Partnership Development works in consultation with the Vice President, Chief Capital Markets Officer to design strategy, formulate criteria, investigate alternatives and pursue targeted opportunities. Furthermore, the Vice President, Partnership Development works across departments to rapidly onboard and automate select fintech partnerships. This individual will have experience and understanding of consumer lending from a P&L, pricing, and profitability standpoint.
The identification and vetting of fintech partners incorporating peer group benchmarking, market analysis and return modeling is a central responsibility of the position. The ability to source appropriate partners, and build agile processes to onboard partners is of critical importance. This individual is responsible for overseeing departmental personnel and the coordination of a cross-functional team comprised of Credit Risk, Legal, Compliance, Technology and other Alliant specialists in the pursuit of productive fintech partnerships and the obtainment of volume and profitability goals.
The Vice President, Partnership Development will additionally be expected to play a leading role in navigating diverse stakeholders by regularly seeking input from Finance, Lending (Consumer, Residential and Commercial) and other internal constituencies to ensure the advancement of the organization's overarching capital markets objectives and the resolution of divergent opinions.
The incumbent is responsible for improving the functionality of the department by designing processes that foster efficiency and produce actionable insights aimed at streamlining operations, managing risk and automating repetitive tasks.
General direction is received from the Vice President, Chief Capital Markets Officer. This position requires approximately 35% travel (out of state).
Responsibilities

Fintech Partnership Development and Execution
- Formulate strategic partnership objectives
- Responsible for managing the overall planning, execution, monitoring and simultaneous delivery of multiple highly visible, strategic partnerships
- Establish rapport to improve speed, flexibility, and performance of key fintech relationships
- Articulate persuasive arguments to secure Alliant committee approval of proposed fintech partnerships
- Troubleshoot obstacles in the onboarding of new fintech relationships and associated process automation
- Develop and maintain strong internal working relationships with operational team members across various disciplines including Legal, Credit Risk, technology, compliance, servicing, and accounting/finance roles
Credit, counterparty, and portfolio monitoring, administration, and documentation
- Identify possible threats to strong partnership relations and proactively mitigate those threats
- Evaluate policies, standards, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective governance and operational controls
Strategic Initiatives and Development
- Regularly contribute to division-level projects and initiatives via strategic thought leadership in the landscape of lensing (consumer and commercial) and emerging trends, expert opinion, and creative solution design
- Establish expertise by providing accurate and timely capital market intelligence and analysis to Lending's lines of business
- Translate strategic and operating plans into meaningful direction of projects, goals, priorities and activities; delivering on strategy through quality execution and best practice adaptation
- Help propagate messaging across the organization that fosters a broader knowledge of the Capital Markets department, promotes collaboration and influences constructive and positive change
Leadership and Performance Management

- Mentor and provide insights to Capital Markets teammates with the aim of helping to foster development, talent optimization and engagement
- Provide a structured and consistent approach to ensure that individual development plans are in place, performance management is consistent, performance management process is respected and followed, and coaching and feedback are provided on a regular and dynamic basis.
Adhere to and ensure compliance of all business transactions with policy and process of the Bank Secrecy Act Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, company procedures and policies. Maintain integrity and ethics in all actions and conversations with or regarding credit union members and their accounts; comply with privacy act directives.
Qualifications
What makes you a great fit?
You'll be a great fit if in addition to Completion of a Master's degree in a business-related discipline and a minimum of 10 years' experience in capital markets, and you have:
- Expert knowledge and understanding of most, but not all of the following asset classes: personal term loans, autos, RV, commercial loans and residential mortgages
- Demonstrate high degree of professionalism in communication and collaboration with customers, peers and management
- Demonstratable track record of sourcing, developing and implementing multiple fintech relationships with profitable production from such relationships exceeding $500M annually on a combined basis
- Outstanding presentation, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical approach and problem-solving ability
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel out of state approximately 35% with limited notice
