Job Summary:

The Vice President, Publisher Relations’ primary responsibilities are managing client accounts and assisting in growth and development of the team. This involves expanding and securing new business, managing a project portfolio that meets or exceeds projections, and participating in the internal management of the company. Our VP Publisher Relations will work alongside our COO to develop and execute the operational and strategic sales plans for optimal publisher partnerships and revenue growth.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with COO to develop and implement sales and partnership strategies that meet or exceed the goals of RedShelf and our investors.
  • Identify new business opportunities, participate in new business pitches and assist in drafting new business proposals.
  • Guide development of the Publisher Relations team - including Directors, Account Managers, and our Content Strategy Team – by identifying skills needs, delegating tasks appropriately and motivating project staff to provide outstanding client service. 
  • Manage Publisher Relations team’s performance and costs to maintain high client satisfaction while meeting or beating expense budgets.
  • Organize and interpret data - both internal and external - to equip the RedShelf team with competitive differentiation when partnering with publishers.
  • Provide a consultative experience with partners that optimizes RedShelf’s publishing partner relationships and maximizes our joint reach into the digital course materials marketplace.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years of progressive business development and management experience, including new product development to adapt to the shifting needs of students, faculty, universities, and content providers.
  • Knowledge of publishing industry and the latest trends in digital course materials and transformation. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding planning, leadership, project & time management, peer relationship, collaboration, analytical, business and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with a concentration on Excel skills and CRM software
  • Ability to manage a large book of business and team.
  • Available for travel (20-35%) to partners, tradeshows, and company events.
  • Position requires applicants to be onsite ​​​​​​

Other Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge and appreciation of the advances in higher educational software, course materials, and digital publishing is a plus.
  • Background and/or experience in educational technology and/or publishing.
  • Comfort and/or experience in a startup environment.
  • Leadership skills that foster staff development and team building.
