VP Sales, Investment Management
The Team: Working within Morningstar’s Investment Management group and wholly owned subsidiary, Morningstar Investment Management LLC, we use our expertise in asset allocation, manager research and portfolio management to create innovative multi-asset Managed Portfolios and equity SMAs for institutions, advisors, and investors.
The Role: In this position, you will work with broker/dealers, bank trusts, and large independent RIAs, to develop significant business relationships for multi-asset managed portfolio, including turnkey asset management, strategist and sub advisory services. This position will play an instrumental role in identifying, building, and maintaining key senior management relationships with new and existing clients. We are looking for an ambitious self-starter with a stellar sale track record, a strategic sales approach, and a keen interest in business development. This position will be based in Chicago, IL and will require approximately 50% travel time.
Responsibilities
- Use a consultative selling approach to meet and exceed annual goals by maintaining a full pipeline of opportunities with both new prospects and existing clients within a defined territory or named accounts.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with clients in the following spaces: broker-dealer, bank trust, and independent RIAs.
- Manage the sales process, including sourcing new opportunities, formulating and presenting unique solutions to meet client needs. Collaborate with the appropriate team members to develop account strategies and close opportunities.
- Coordinate all client and prospect meetings, including the development of effective support materials to maximize opportunities and implement account strategies: e.g. final presentations, RFP activities and any other sales activities related to pipeline creation.
- Develop strong internal relationships with internal groups stakeholders such as relationship managers, portfolio managers, portfolio specialists, product managers, marketing managers, and senior management leaders to support your defined account strategies.
- Meet other sales metrics as required, such as forecasting, prospect calling, client visits, etc.
- Track all sales-related activities in CRM to generate sales activity reports.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree with at least seven years of client-facing experience in the financial services industry.
- A team-oriented sales professional with extensive knowledge of the financial services industry, as well as awareness of key industry trends in the investment management and wealth management.
- Excellent relationship building, communication and presentation skills, as well as an aptitude for negotiation and persuasion.
- A self-starter with a stellar sales track record, a strategic approach to sales, and a keen interest in business development
- Prior experience as an investment professional and an MBA, CFA, CIMA, or CFP designation is highly desirable.
