Job Summary:
Join the Data Solutions and Architecture team within the Digital Data and AI department of Cat Digital and be a part of the industry leading Cat Helios platform. Responsible for leading a team in the delivery of architecture outcomes; gives professional guidance throughout the planning and delivery process.
Team is responsible for advancing enterprise data solutions, including architecture, design, and adoption of Cat® Helios, partnering closely with business and product management leaders to understand data needs and translate them into scalable, reusable data products. Also emphasize data sharing across the eco system with dealers, customers, and internal business partners.
What You Will Do:
  • Leading the team in the delivery of solutions.
  • Developing strategies, processes, methodologies and best practices for architecture activities.
  • Providing expert advice and resolving complex problems and issues involved in architecture activities.
  • Managing architecture projects, while focusing on the maintenance of customer relationships and various resources to ensure high quality deliverables.

What You Will Have:
  • Analytical Thinking: Expert Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Data Architecture: Expert knowledge of processes, techniques and factors that affect data architecture; ability to design blueprints on how to integrate data resources for business processes and functional support. Ability to utilize design methodologies, tools and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical design.
  • Effective Communications: Expert understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Organizational Leadership: Expert knowledge of leadership concepts and ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives.
  • Platform Architecture: Expert knowledge of technologies and methods to design processing mechanisms and roadmaps to execute business application systems; ability to design these roadmaps and deploy supportive interfaces for end-users to access related systems, in accordance with standards and processes.
  • IT Industry: Expert knowledge of trends & Directions: Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) industry; ability to analyze marketplace experiences and trends.

Considerations for Top Candidates:
  • Progressive career in software engineering and architecture (typically 12years+)
  • Expert level experience in information technology planning and operations, information systems design and deployment, or systems lifecycle management (typically 10+ years)
  • Demonstratable experience leading technology development for enterprise scale systems in public cloud and hybrid eco-systems Team leadership, management and budget responsibility experience (typically 5+ years)
  • Understanding of information management concepts such as controlled vocabularies, authority control, data modeling, and schema design.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end data lifecycle across traditional data warehouses, relational databases, operational data stores, business intelligence reporting, as well as new concepts such as data fabrics, data mesh, and data lakehouse.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, data quality, data modeling, and data architecture concepts
  • Familiarity with public cloud technologies and best practices for implementing two or more from the following: massive real-time event and message processing, data lakes, Big Data transformations and analytics, complex e-commerce applications, IoT edge and cloud data processing, SQL and NoSQL data modeling.
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to deal with sensitive issues, mentor and coach and/or persuade others on new technologies, new applications, or potential solutions.
  • Understanding of Caterpillar, Dealer, and Customer business model.
  • Demonstrated AI systems thinking and judgement, data and model lifecycle leadership, as well as agentic AI and human in the loop solution design.

Additional Information:
This position will have the option to be based out of our Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL or Irving, TX offices.

Summary Pay Range:
$172,630.00 - $258,950.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
