Summary
Responsible gaining a thorough understanding of the new system or application to be tested. This individual must learn both the technical side of the system as well as understand what the business user expects. The QA Analyst is responsible to design, develop and maintain new and existing test cases, continued evaluation of test cases for inclusion in test regression, tests coverage and assist in the automation of newly implemented functionality, and development of tools to enable test efficiencies. The QA Analyst will also work closely with Software Developers, Project Management and Customer Support to form and follow quality procedures, standards and specifications ensuring they are met and deliver the highest quality projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for analysis of development stories, acts as analyst for automation testing teams and creates test cases for automation
- Works in an Agile team throughout the Lifecycle to collaborate on the analysis, design, development and testing
- Analyze the business requirements, understand the expectation from end user, review with Business Analysts/SMEs and design test scenarios
- Attend daily scrum standup and report testing issues
- Provide key inputs during retrospective meetings
- Create test data, detailed test cases for validating business functions and regression testing
- Clearly articulates verbally and in writing the specifics around defects
- Monitors and updates defect reports as needed to ensure timely problem resolution
- Review User stories for the sprint with the users and get user approval before sprint is closed
- Conducts regression, integration, and systems testing on newly designed or modified applications/systems
- Performs application and project risk analysis and recommends quality improvements
- Assists production support by testing time sensitive defects and providing advice on system functionality
- Participate in the communication and analysis of test results and patterns, providing a feedback loop to requirements gathering, design and development teams
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend automation testing tools
- Be the point of contact for the responsible applications and provide support as needed
- Responsible for continuously improving the QA process and technologies
- Helps drive and maintain automation efforts across multiple areas

Qualifications
- [Required] Basic knowledge of a development lifecycle under Waterfall and/or Agile methodologies
- [Required] Ability to manage small scale projects and ensuring team efficiency
- [Required] Broad based knowledge of the Lifecyle development, change control management, test planning management
- [Required] Strong analytical skills with potential to display methods of testing highly sophisticated systems, progressively diagnose system defects, and clearly communicate project constituents, key findings and learnings
- [Required] Strong communication skills, written and oral, sound judgement and time management skills, ability to work effectively with clients (users), management and staff
- [Required] Highly motivated self-starter with creative problem-solving skills
- [Required] Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced Agile environment
- [Required] Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- [Required] Strong testing experience which includes developing test plans, prioritizing automation of test cases, and working with cross functional teams.
Technical Skills
- [Required] Relational databases and query tools. (SQL Server, Oracle and DB2)
- [Required] Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Office Suite
- [Preferred] Hands-on experience with writing automation test code and utilizing leading industry standards tools and frameworks that can simulate complex multi-system scenarios
- [Preferred] Proficiency with automated testing types (Unit, Functional, Load, Security, Behavioral, Integration, Component, Contract and End to End)
- [Preferred] Experience with working on cloud native applications as well as CI/CD tools (AWS, Jenkins, Rancher)
Education and/or Experience
- [Required] Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- [Required] 3+ years of experience in system analysis and application testing role
- [Preferred] Test management experience leading small to large projects and development of test plans
- [Preferred] Prior work experience in the capital markets, derivatives, financial services industry
